Nzoner's Game Room>Orlando Brown Projected Contract 6 year $145 mil
dlphg9 08:17 PM 03-28-2022
So there's an article on NFL network saying that Orlando Brown is expected to sign for 6 years $145 mil.

That comes to $24.16 mil/yr and makes him the highest paid offensive lineman in football. It also would give him the 19th highest salary per year in the NFL

How would you feel if that is the contract he ended up signing?

I'm fine with it. He is a top 5 LT and he's only 26 next season. A young great LT is a guy you can't let leave.

LT isnt' a spot you really wanna have in flux. So if you could have moved him for a pick and been able to grab a guy that you like long term, it woudln't have been the worst thing.
True but realistically your not getting a top 10 pick for him (getting one of the top 3 tackles in the draft), so getting someone who is a lock to step in and play LT from day 1 probably was not happening.

It's not in flux. They have a solid LT this season and next if they want to retain him.

Don't ge me wrong - I understand what you're saying - but they're not forced to confront this situation any different right now.

There is nothing harmful about the guy's playing on the tag this season. It's two different perceptions of value and a player who wants to bet on himself.
With the expected jump in the cap number, it should be a good year to bet on yourself as well.

Well that's that. Only option for him now is to play his ass off so he can get what he wants next season.

Highest signing bonus and APY (most money per year) but yet it’s not enough wtf? Sounds like he was gonna be the highest paid OT

My understanding is that the possible extension between Orlando Brown Jr. & the Chiefs was closer than what was portrayed earlier this week.

Brown wanted more financial security (guaranteed money) throughout the long-term deal.

You now may have to go thru camp and the preseason without your starting LT. He may show up the day before game 1 or something.

Realistically, we have no clue what we have this year at this point though.

Who would be our LT if Brown doesn’t play?

The Tyreek trade was one of Bart's best decisions... regardless of this...

The #Chiefs made a strong effort to get the deal done, offering Orlando Brown more based on average per year than Trent Williams. But security and structure were the issues. Good tries all around. But he'll play on the tag. https://t.co/BlG3NPubez

Yeah, play the tag and we'll find a new LT after this year I suppose.
