For all things Royals in 2022. #3 minor league system according to Baseball America. The Bobby Witt era should begin this year. Will Salvy still be the homerun king? How does the glut of infield players work out? Will the young pitchers take the next step?

Back in the early 2000s when the Royals were losing 100 games a year, fans were saying "yeah, we suck, but we get to see MLB in KC. Get to see all the great players like blah blah blah..."

So I invented the Kansas City Kanchos and rooted for them as my fantasy team. The KC Kanchos were otherwise known as "opponent." Made the season much more enjoyable to watch, as those were all championship caliber.

I hate that after 2014 and 2015 we're right back there again.

Merrifield is the worst everyday starter on offense in all of MLB right now. How can that happen?

Maybe he's just heartbroken and doesn't feel like he belongs on a team that's back to trying to win with youthful enthusiasm instead of proven talent? That said, he signed the contract knowing how this team approaches things.

He'll figure it out. Winners always do.

My goal for the Royals every year is for them to be competitive until training camp starts. If they're good beyond that? My God what a season!

They are so bad.. so, SO, bad. This team is no fun to watch. The young pitchers are atrocious. We have guys like Ryan O'Hearn batting clean up. Mondesi is a complete broke dick.

I'm approaching GBlowjob levels of negativity.

Furthermore. Can we just start trading the guys we draft for a competent major league player? The other team gets a chance to potentially develop a top prospect, and we don't have to suffer through another "top guy" getting to the majors and being Kris Bubic, Kyle Zimmer, Bubba Starling, etc.

I'm just glad I didn't buy a package or streaming App, or change Internet providers, in order to watch. Maybe next year.

As for the wife's annual ticket package to attend 10-15 games, well that's money saved too. Again, maybe next year.

Until then I'll just stream them via some free deal and cast it to the TV.

From The Athletic (nice article with thoughts on 13 of our players):

All of these metrics clarify why The Bat X projection expects Merrifield’s OPS to climb to .716 by the end of the season. That said, in the projection scenario, his production would hover 6 percent below MLB average — which would still rank third-best among all Royals hitting projections.

20 games back seems like a logical sweet spot for when Whit starts to heat up.

Vinnie Pasquantino hits 6th HR in Omaha

It didn’t take long for Pasquantino to pick up right where he left off in 2021 with the NW Arkansas Naturals. He slashed .282/.398/.507 with a .905 OPS.

In 21 games, Pasquantino hit five doubles, three home runs, drove in seventeen, and stole three bases.

The team is still missing Nick Pratto, who is on the 7-day concussion IL after being hit in the head with a pitch, but they’re finding ways to win without two of their best three hitters from Opening Day (Melendez).

Omaha hits the road tomorrow to take on the Iowa Cubs at 6:38 pm.

I dont like how on the TV broadcasts, they call Merrifield "Whit". The new shortstops name is "Witt." They dont specify either. Every call is "Whit/Witt makes the play". I score from home. I never know who is who.

Which Witts Which?
