At this point it's becoming a distraction. An entire ****ing season of day-to-day status and "questionable" for game time. The team has waited all season long for him to work his way back and after a couple of partial games were right back to day-to-day and "questionable" for game time.

Should have put him on IR. What's the difference if he plays and hurts himself or doesn't play because he's afraid to hurt himself? I don't think Berry wants to play. I think he wants to collect his money while avoiding injury. There is no other way to interpret his actions.

The team can't do this same thing over again next year. At this point all I can think is that Berry has the front office over a barrel somehow. It's a distraction that needs to end one way or the other.

Either shut it down and get the issue fixed or retire.

He's stealing money at this point.

You guys are embarrassing human beings. Truly despicable people. Its not your money, its not causing you any real world problems and Berry's contract is what it is wether he plays or not. Him retiring doesn't save any money, him being cut or put on IR etc doesn't change anything. Jordan Lucas barely sees the field. Berry isn't holding back some all pro safety from being on the roster.

Ive been here for a long time and this place has really gone to shit as just a constant cesspool of negativity. All you worthless motherfuckers know how to do anymore is complain. The Mahomes/Berry dichotomy has exposed you for what you really are.

This was a very negative post. Just sayin....

And how do you know what him still being on our roster is, or isn't, holding back? And while we have Mahomes, maybe it's time to not have players who don't play.

At least be a little honest, Berry's not worth the money he's being paid. His contract ended up being a HUGE bust.

there is no player outside of an elite pass rusher or qb that is worth that kind of money.

Eh, it's frustration boiling over. Year after year we've sat around and watched our highly paid players not live up to expectations. I get that it's going to happen but it's an ongoing thing with this franchise.

We have the best QB in football for the first time in our lives and people want to waste all their time railing about a guy who has been through the ringer multiple times. Its unfortunate, thats all it is.

The same idiots running their mouth nonstop about Berry are the same people who said we would NEVER EVER EVER draft a QB in the first round. Well they were wrong so now its time to find something else to incessantly complain about. Lets find the next scapegoat to complain about in every fucking thread now that Smith is gone.

Cutting him, him retiring, IR, nothing being done different would change anything or save a dime as far as this season or moving forward is concerned. He didn't know and the Chiefs didn't know this season was going to play out this way and to think anything different is the ultimate in fan stupidity.

If you are THAT frustrated with the franchise then quit watching and go the fuck away.

So? You going to bitch about it forever? We all now the contract was a bad idea now.

I remember when people complained nonstop because we never paid our players and they always left. Its not possible to satisfy the idiots here.

:-), why don't you step away instead?

And let's not forget the details of some of their/our frustration, it's that he can "do killer workouts that would kill most players", but can't play on Sunday. Sorry, that sounds like a TON of bullshit to most of us. When you have players like Hill, pretty-much the fastest make in the league, wearing a pound of tape on his ankle and taking a shot to play through the pain, it just sucks to have a guy what does workouts that would kill most players, take most Sundays off, then miss the most critical snaps due to some stupid pitch count. In games that could have locked-up HFA. Now that we're at game #3 of being able to do that, we're hearing that he might take another Sunday off! Meanwhile he's making the coin that suggests he'd play through pain, hell, and high water to help this team. Remember his workouts before you say we're crazy...

Yeah, "we're" overreacting! :-)

You dont even watch most of the games you fucking hypocrite. You are the biggest example of whats wrong with this place. You watch half the games and act like you are some super fan getting jobbed by Berry.

You have a history here dude, we know you arent even that vested in the Chiefs yet you nonstop bitch like you are part owner.

It's not as black and white as you are trying to paint it. You conveniently leave out the context. The context that led to where we are now is, for the most part, the root of fan frustration.

Sure, it's not our money. And sure, it doesn't affect us personally. But as fans we watched Berry play hardball after the chiefs treated him as well as any team possibly could following his cancer diagnosis. Rather than reciprocate that goodwill Berry chose to make his contract negotiations contentious.

And even after he got his record deal, he continued to show his gratitude by not showing up for the voluntary off-season workouts. You'd think that he would have been leading the way after getting a huge payday, but apparently not. Then, by no fault of his own, he gets injured and we lose him for the season.

Fast forward to 2018. He's apparently been cleared to play all season but has held himself out. This while the defense has been utterly putrid and threatens to undermine what would otherwise be a legitimate Super Bowl run. The team would clearly benefit from his "leadership" on the field.

And throughout the season not one person from the organization, nor Berry, has come forward to provide clarification as to his status. I realize that Berry is not obligated to speak to the media or the fans. But at some point you'd like your "leader" to step up and say, "**** it, the season is on the line. I don't care what happens I've got to be out there with my teammates and see this thing through. Pain be damned."

To blame the fans for ingratitude is misplaced. The fans just want to see the light at the end of the tunnel but have been left in the dark to wonder why Berry has been cleared to play from the start but hasn't. All the while, watching the defense ruin a spectacular season.

The way this entire situation has played out stinks. Something isn't kosher. I'm sure there have been similar situations in the league but I can't think of a single one over my 47 years of fandom. At this point, the organization and Eric Berry share in creating the conditions that have resulted in whatever backlash currently exists towards Berry.
