The scuba thread made me think of my youth and all of the optimism about mankind living somewhere besides land.
Imagine that mankind's population is exploding, and technology is allowing us to live in other environments. You're in a group that is due to be reassigned from traditional land-based dwellings, and you get your choice. Which do you choose?
In all cases, assume that you're living in a habitat the supports roughly 30,000 people.
Poll to follow as soon as architectural technology allows. [Reply]
I mean...the on-water floating city basically means you live on an island. I'll go with that. Sunshine, shorelines. I can walk and breath and feel the sun on my skin without the need for a space suit or air tank. The only competitor is the cloud city. I'm sure it'd be cool for a couple of days, but if we're talking living someplace indefinitely I'll take the floating ocean city. [Reply]
I almost didn't include the floating island-city, but I compromised by placing it far from land. I ended up picking it because it seems easy and I think I would miss looking at clouds. But if I didn't pick that one, I'd go interstellar. Interstellar would seem like you're always making progress on something. [Reply]
