For all things Royals in 2022. #3 minor league system according to Baseball America. The Bobby Witt era should begin this year. Will Salvy still be the homerun king? How does the glut of infield players work out? Will the young pitchers take the next step?

Drew Waters day:

He wanted lunch.

So, scrolling on his phone in his hotel bed Monday morning, Drew Waters tapped the DoorDash app and typed in Chick-fil-A.

With the order set, he swiped at his phone, only to see a green message bubble at the top of the screen.

“Where are you?” a Royals staffer texted.

Waters thought 2 p.m. was when he needed to be at Kauffman Stadium. That’s what he’d been told. He knew, as of a couple of days earlier, that he would at some point be making his Major League Baseball debut. He did not know which specific day. Now, in light of this text, he was concerned.

“Still at the hotel,” Waters responded. “Am I in the lineup today?”

“Yes,” the Royals staffer responded. “You are. You need to get here now.”

MLB general manager hot seat rankings: Three top executives feeling pressure...

3. Dayton Moore, Kansas City Royals

Moore has his quirks, but he's almost universally praised within the game as a human being and leader. Professional baseball is a results-based business, though, and at some point it's worth wondering when Moore's results will take precedent. The Royals haven't had a .500 season or better since 2016, and they've enjoyed just three winning efforts since he took over the reins in 2006. The Royals did reach back-to-back World Series, winning the 2015 edition, and that surely earned him a fountain of good will. (Of course, Daniels' Rangers had also won consecutive pennants a few years prior, and that didn't spare him in the end.) New Royals owner John Sherman promoted Moore earlier this year to club president (with J.J. Picollo taking over as GM), suggesting he's content to carry on with the status quo for now.

It's accurate though, the Royals don't seem to be in any hurry to make changes no matter how terrible they are.

Well, they HAVE turned over the roster from the start of the season. So they are doing what the majority of CP was clamoring for on the field. In the front office and coaching staff, though....

The longer they stay on the more likely they are here next year.

Nope. The coaching staff will be gone. Let them hang their noose on the field. Too much good young talent that is being misused and ownership wants a new stadium.

We need to try to hit some dribblers to the area where Heasley yakked. Nobody's going to want to pick that ball up.
