This format is exactly like it will be for the vets when they come in for their minicamp,” Reid said. “They got here early, we had meetings this morning. Now they come out they do their walkthrough. They’ll go back for lunch. Then they’ll come out for a special teams practice, the specialists will come out. Then we’ll start our practice. There will be a special teams period within the practice, just like you guys normally see during the year. It will be an afternoon practice, will last a couple of hours and then they’re out of here. They leave the field, go into meetings again and then they go sleep.

Not trying to hype him up but he seems a bit different from the recent WR’s we’ve drafted lately. I think this guy could be a contributor in the second half of the season.
I swear you guys never learn. Chiefs specifically said that Powell will be Sammys replacement. He will see action early on and often [Reply]
Powell will see action when he learns the playbook. As to him being Sammy's replacement, is he planning on spending much time in the trainer's room?
I don't think you can take a lot away from the limited action we've seen. No pads, no vets, and a lot of guys that will be insurance salesmen come September or before. I'm not looking for any of them to be Game 1 starters except Niang, but I do expect to see some of them get their shot before the season ends. I'm not even sure Niang will start if Schwartz comes back healthy. [Reply]

The Chiefs had similar offensive line woes in 2014. They threw Fulton out there but sat LDT. It was the last year the Chiefs missed the playoffs and the line was so bad that there were no TD's by a WR all season long.
Agreed
While I'm ALL in on Smith and can't wait to see him eventually start, it seems very doubtful we'll see him in there immediately... he's going to need some refinement and a chance to see how vets go about their business first

It’s scary how much Cornell Powell looks like Sammy especially with the 14 on pic.twitter.com/tbh0x24CcY

Absolutely. The NFL has proven that half or more of GMs and front offices are incapable of pivoting when circumstances change. Even a respected guy like Mickey Loomis was whining last year not about safety but about the lack of in-person visits for free agency and how the NFL should delay the opening.
This year with no combine, few in person visits, and shortened or nonexistent game tape from the past season, the draft was held anyway and a bunch of these guys were probably like, “derp not enough scouting!”
Veach has proven to be forward thinking in his short time as an NFL GM. He largely outsmarted a bunch of teams last year, and on paper he probably did the same thing this year. [Reply]
Man, if Powell could grasp the playbook well enough to play big snap counts year 1, it would really bode well for the future.
I could see him being a Sneed-like mid-round guy. Someone who makes a big year 1
Contribution and outperforms his draft slot by a large amount, giving KC a bunch of cheap early production AND more flexibility. [Reply]

Yep I wish the players would tell it's none of your damn business. He still doesn't annoy as much as Teicher. Does that guy even prepare at all? Just seems like he mails it in at every press conference. [Reply]
