Saccopoo Memorial Draft Forum>*** 2021 Prospect Tracker: Chiefs Interest / Visits / Work Outs ***
Dante84 09:38 AM 02-08-2021
After a hard fought season defending the title, we fell short in the finale due to some critical holes that need to be addressed. Sure, we'll get some guys back at some of these spots, but we absolutely need this draft to be successful if we are to keep our status as a SB favorite in the years ahead.

O-Line, Edge, WR stand out as our biggest needs, among others. Let's hope Veach works his magic again.

This is the 10th year in a row that we will be tracking the college players the Chiefs have publicly or privately expressed interest in leading up to the NFL Draft.

This will be a more difficult challenge given that there will be no combine, only the Senior Bowl, various Pro Days and virtual visits.

Here's how we did in 2020 - Clyde was our only hit, surprisingly.

For those who are new, the way this operates is that we collectively monitor various social media sources, blogs, articles and reports for news of the Chiefs' interest in a certain player. When posted in this thread, I will update the OP to include the player. *Please provide the link to the article, the players name, position and team.

I am going to try to link to player profiles when they exist, courtesy of The Draft Network, other site write up, or their team's website.

Let's meet some of our future Chiefs:

Where does it say that the Chiefs met with these guys? This just looks like a list of potential surprise picks at 31.

Gotcha, but that’s definitely not confirmation that we’ve met with any of those guys. The article says nothing about that.

Yeah, that list is from Chiefswire. I actually started a thread about it last night (my link came from Yahoo but they also publish on USA Today).

So my first attempt was pretty strange.

1st: Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, LB
Notre Dame

2nd: Jalen Mayfield OT
Michigan

3rd: Tommy Togiai IDL
Ohio State

Not really need picks, but they were all good value. I think spags could have fun with Owusu.

Tangential (I understand all these names don’t go on the list in this thread), but interesting none the less. I know we, and every other NFL, visits most D1 pro days be default, but it can be telling to see some of the smaller schools listed.

We can add Pitt DB Paris Ford to the list

Final Edit after working rough PFN’s interview articles: all of the below are direct quotes from players saying they met / interviewed with every team at the Senior Bowl. Not sure if that’s enough to add them to the list.

Just read a USA Today article talking about how, in a typical year, NFL teams interview 15-30 prospects at the Senior Bowl. Due to COVID and the lack of a combine, most NFL teams interviewed quite a bit more at the Senior Bowl this year, including many who interviewed all 128 prospects.

———————————————-

Peyton Turner said he talked with every team at the Senior Bowl and had follow up Zoom calls with about 24... not sure if that’s enough to add him to the list.

Similar quote from Josh Palmer (again, not sure if it’s enough to add to the list)

And Austin Watkins

And Elijah Mitchell

Interesting.

The game film and highlight tape suggest this kid is a bulldog and plays bigger than his size. He’s a monster in the run game but is not the greatest in man-to-man coverage. Those measurables are nothing to write home about from the article, but if he drops to the late fourth or beyond, he might be a great replacement and upgrade on Armani Watts who has done little to nothing in his tenure in KC.

Yeah, Watts is pretty much a waste at this point, especially considering his injury history.

Doesn't fit the athletic archetype the Chiefs seek
