Russel Crowe and Cate Blanchett. I'm a huge fan of Crowe anyway, and doubly so when he's paired with Ridley Scott. Interested to see how it turns out. Should be a LOT better than Costner's version. [Reply]

Seriously, Costner's Robin Hood was one of the worst movies of the decade. What an absolute celluloid abortion.
W/ Scott directing & Crowe leading, might as well title this one Gladiator 2: Back with bow & arrow! Hopefully this one won't be an overrated snooze-fest as well.

watching costner drop in and out of accent is fucking hilarious...he's not even acting at any point in the movie
I own "Prince of Thieves". Yeah, it's sort of the George-Clooney-nipple-suited version of Robin Hood but, still, it was an enjoyable turn-off-your-brain film in its time. Costner's a joke but the supporting cast was deep and enjoyable (Freeman, Slater, and Alan Rickman and Michael Wincott chewing the scenery as baddies).
The best versions of Robin Hood I've seen are the mid-80s "Robin of Sherwood" series with Michael Praed (IIRC a British import onto Showtime) and the more recent Jonas Armstrong and Lucy Griffiths version from BBCA. I doubt Americans can do Robin Hood well. This upcoming film will have enjoyable battle scenes from the Crusades but, other than that, I fear it will suck.
And "Napoleon Dynamite" was so overrated it's not funny. I watched that film and thought, "What the hell was the big deal all about?" The only good thing about that film was that it brought Tina Majorino to my attention, in all her big-foreheaded geeky attractiveness. [Reply]
