Then where do they put Witt Jr, Lopez & Whit.? Lopez has earned a spot , especially @ SS, With Jr has played a lot of 3rd base, I think a few games at 2nd base. Don't want to move Whit to RF with Isbel capable to play. Benni will payroll LF.
You know with Doziers contract he will be back, especially getting off to a bad start this year with injuries and steadly improving. If Pratto makes the team, hope they deal Santana to open 1st for him and platooning with Dozier. Dozier Will not hardly ever see RF next year, but only DH & 1st base. [Reply]

The Michael A. Taylor signing is good for the Royals.
Whitt Merrifield will start season playing RF.
Carlos Santana DH/1B 35 $10,500,000 2023 Nick Lopez SS 26 $597,500 Pre-Arbitration Hanser Alberto UI 28 $1,650,000 2023 Adalberto Mondesi 2B/3B 26 $2,525,000 2024 Bobby Witt Jr 3B/2B 21 Nick Pratto 1B 22 Will hopefully replace Santana at 1B early in season
When Mondesi gets hurt, Merrifield moves back to 2B.

I am ok with Taylor in CF and his bat. It’s no different than having Escobar at SS in 15 and 16. MAT, Whit, Salvy, Lopez, are all gold glove type defenders. We just need to get consistent in RF and 3B to have the type of defense needed to support the young slingers in the rotation.
The biggest factor is the other 7 or 8 bats. Personally, I would love to see Witt, Whit, Lopez, Benny, Salvy, Pratto/MJ, Mondy, 2019 Dozier one through 8. Then Taylor doesn’t look so bad in the 9 hole. BUT, we can’t count on Mondy consistently, and I’m afraid Carlos Santana is batting 5th everyday next year. That’s my concern. [Reply]
I suspect the opening day starting lineup includes
C - Perez, 1B - Santana, 2B - Merrifield, SS - Mondesi, 3B- Witt, LF - Beni, CF - Taylor or acquisition, RF - Isbel, DH - Dozier [Reply]

I just don't see them going back to Modi at SS! Lopez has more durability and has a Gold Glove material in a much needed position where you need durability! [Reply]
The thought of having Santana at 1st or DH next year makes me want to punt a baby.
In regards to Taylor, this is what Dayton does. Signs shitty players to shitty contracts. Hell, it's not even the off season and he's giving out bad contracts. [Reply]
1) as bad as his offensively, Taylor has been so valuable defensively, this deal isn’t an overpay. Rany has some good thoughts/comparisons on Twitter to how Houston used Jake Marisnick. Taylor is probably good for 4-5 wins the next 2 years. $9 million is not an overpay there.
2) I just don’t like the idea of him playing a full time role. If it’s for 100 starts + late innings defense, it probably works.
3) I think the opening day lineup features Mondesi at 3B and Merrifield at 1B, with Lopez and Merrifield up the middle and Dozier in RF.
Witt will start the year in Omaha. So will Pratto and Melendez. [Reply]

Witt will be the starting 3rd baseman, imo. [Reply]

BOOOOO!!!
Not booing you but would like to see the young players here.
Probably what it will be though.
Also who is at 1B? Whitt can't play 2B and 1B. [Reply]
If there is any place where a defensive first CF is valuable, it's here in Kansas City as well as a team that has to play at Detroit a bunch of times.
Good deal if you ask me, doesn't break the bank. Hopefully by the end of the deal he becomes the defensive substitution late in the game with our other MiLB bats making their way up. [Reply]
