To the ship?

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (WIBW) - Chiefs wide receiver and Kansas State alum Byron Pringle is staying in Kansas City.

His agents, Katz Brothers Sports, tweeted Thursday afternoon he has re-signed with the team.

Pringle, who joined the Chiefs in 2018 as an undrafted free agent, enters his fourth year in KC this fall.

The 27-year-old hauled in 13 catches for 160 yards last season including one touchdown.

I've always felt he could be a good #3 or really good #4 with his strength and speed.

I think he is going to be our upside surprise this year.

I hope so. I've been wanting him to take Robinson's role for 2 years now...

He basically did by the end of the season.

Sadly DRob has been my downside disappointment. :-)

If there ever was an opportunity to take the #2 role, this is it for Pringle.

DRob took a big step backwards last year. He hit his peak with that ~190 yard 3TD game against the Raiders, and it's been a slow roll downhill ever since.

Hill
Powell
Hardman
Pringle
Whoever from 5 down

and I'm good.

He's had opportunities before with Sammie always being hurt. He is what he is at this point, he's not going to just explode all of the sudden at 28 years old.

I don't think you can just put Powell in at the #2.

You're probably right, but he's more likely to change than your average 28 year old WR.

This is only his 4th year at the position coming off a garbage KSU team.

He joined the team at 25, so it's not like the book is 100% written on him.

But it probably is.

Was just going to post something similar. If anyone is going to step a step forward at 28, it's Pringle. Not that he necessarily will, but he'll be entering his physical prime and the experience should start paying dividends, if it's ever going to.

When was the last time a 28 year old receiver with less than 350 yards in his career had a breakthrough season and became a productive #2 WR?

He's been in the system 3 years. Usually the 3rd year is when things "click".

I guess I just don't see it.
