I worked at a fast food place in high school, we never did that, we'd make fresh fries. However the "no salt" requests were usually made by a-hole customers and it meant we had to clean the entire fry station, so we'd take our sweet time making them.

Yeah, I never do drive-thru. I almost always get to-go, but I'd rather get out of my car and watch them make my food.
