Probably Moore.
The pass rusher is going to be a stop-gap measure or someone who'll immediately need a new deal. You're not going to find a DE with the control at reasonable figures that Moore presents.
And Moore could do a TON to really make this offense completely unbeatable. I don't have any idea how you deal with this team if you add him to it.
I don't think an available DE is going to move the needle to the same extend DJ Moore would. [Reply]

I think that's probably the route I'd go as well. [Reply]
But I'm not getting rid of Justin Watson for him. There's no reason to believe he'd be better than Watson here.
He's just a guy some folks fell in love with during the draft process because he aced the 3-cone. Other than that, he's not done shit at the next level. [Reply]
I do think the defense needs another pass rusher in a bad way. IF you go for a legit dude, you'll have to extend him, but with Clark coming off the book somewhat that' woudl finish out the defense.
You need some WR's next year and Moore comes with a 3 year deal in place. It's pretty perfect to be honest for the Chiefs, it makes alot of sense.
Need the 9ers to roll the Panthers this week to get things moving there. [Reply]

But in Karlaftis I think you've done the hard part (especially if you extend Jones).
You've got a SDE w/ the ability to hold an edge while also at least harassing the opposing QB. So opposite of him you can find a specialist. You can go after a guy like Hughes was in his prime - just a bullet off the edge.
Those guys are available in the 2nd and 3rd. It's your 'moneyball' approach as applied to the DL.
The investment in DE doesn't have to be what it was when we thought we needed Clark as a 3-down guy who gets after the passer. There's reason to believe that George can be that sort of player. So now you need a complementary rusher and those are going to be easier/cheaper to acquire. [Reply]

That's true. You can go find 2 guys to do the 1 thing you need for sure.
You could also pay another interior guy and put him next to Jones if you wanted to theoretically.
Again, just hypothetically, but if the Commanders blow it out, they've got some DL that would really move the needle. Sweat has this year and his 5th year option left, then potentially a tag year so you could from a cost perspective have 3 years at nothing crazy.
Allen would be the gem of that but he's already on a big number IIRC. [Reply]

Wharton/Saunders can be that guy alongside Jones. They're extremely strong complements to each other. I think what you'd like to see behind Jones is a true space-filler not unlike Nnadi or who Shelton was supposed to be (who Pennel was).
I think I may just not have much stomach for paying big $$ for DL anymore. It's a rotational position for the most part. Draft/develop and if you hit, extend. But I'm not excited about going outside the organization and paying with pick and cap space for defensive linemen anymore. That ship had probably raised it's sails some time ago for me, but then Clark simply burnt the motherfucker to the waterline. [Reply]
We're talking WR vs pass rush but should factor in LT for the long term. I realize we arent trading for one mid season but its got to be part of the plan whatever happens. [Reply]
