Cardinals are giving RB James Conner 3-year, $21 million deal that could grow to a maximum of $25.5 million and includes $13.5M fully guaranteed, per source.
The Chiefs are working on a restructured deal for DE Frank Clark, per sources. Sides are uncertain whether they'll be able to get it done, but they're at least trying to find a way to keep Clark in the fold.

Exactly. This team is in a position where they can have their cake and eat it too. No reason to go whole-hog one way of the other. Keep a balanced, forward-thinking approach and this team will be a contender not only in 2022 but well beyond. [Reply]

And if you wait too long, that thud at the bottom's gonna leave a mark.
Maybe Veach can pull it off, but this is going to get harder and harder every single year if he keeps approaching it this way.
The last thing I want to see is a complete implosion that costs us 3 years of Mahomes prime when we could've stepped back earlier at the cost of 1.
That deal is designed to restructure consistently, though. It's the whole point of the way they designed it.
Have you played with what the math looks like if you do max restructures year after year, and then just do a new deal at age 32? You end up with a big bonus proration in that age 32 season (that starts to drop thereafter), but it's workable for sure, and I think that's the plan for him. [Reply]

I mean, if he can be really cheap and they also go after some other pieces, then I can get behind it, but I don't think they can get his cap hit low enough IMO [Reply]
