For all things Royals in 2022. #3 minor league system according to Baseball America. The Bobby Witt era should begin this year. Will Salvy still be the homerun king? How does the glut of infield players work out? Will the young pitchers take the next step?

Mike Trout, .988 OPS, 10.7 WAR, 2.2 Defensive War
Barry Bonds, .821 OPS, 5.5 WAR, 0.4 Defensive War (his first season was 22 & 23 yrs old)
Alex Rodriguez, 1.045 OPS, 9.2 WAR, 1.7 Defensive War

There is a pretty big chasm between Witt and those players mentioned. The good news is Witt is undeniably a great athlete so there is no reason he couldn't be a plus defender if he flames out at SS and 3B.

I think as a hitter Witt Jr is more similar to a guy like Jeff Francoeur than the above players mentioned. Witt Jr appears to be a much better base stealer than Francoeur but Frenchy was plenty athletic and played defensive back in college I believe and had 22 SBs in his season with KC.
You just rolled out 3 HOF'rs and RA to compare BWjr to. :-)

Bow down to your new god. Big Vin. Accept it. Revel in it. We consume souls of the American League as soon as we buy pitching, and alot of it.

The good news is the pitching can’t get any worse

Congratulations to the Royals, who managed to nip the Tigers at the end of the season for the fewest strikeouts of any pitching staff in the AL. Which means Royals pitchers finished dead last in hits allowed, runs allowed, walks allowed, *and* strikeouts. Truly historic. https://t.co/3ny7ufgzLU

Vinnie Pasquantino can end the season today with a top-10 OBP in MLB among hitters with at least 250 PA. The top-10 as of this moment:
1) Judge .425
2) Alvarez/Freeman .405
4) Goldy .404
5) Soto .403
6) Diaz .401
7) Donovan .394
8) Altuve .387
9) McNeil .382
10) Vinnie P. .381

He’s basically a lock to end the season with a top-10 BB/K ratio as well. Top-10:
1) Soto 1.42
2) Diaz 1.30
3) Bregman/Arraez 1.12
5) Kirk 1.11
6) Kwan 1.05
7) Vinnie P./Brantley 1.03
9) LeMahieu 0.96
10) Crawford 0.88

Being one of 7 hitters with a 1.00 > BB/K is pretty cool.

He had 36 Walks (35 BBs, 1 IBB) to 34 Strikeouts. That's pretty damn good.

That is literally the worst a pitching staff can perform.

And it happened while they had an ace level performance from one starter and a solid performance from another. That’s just how bad the pen and 3/5 of the rotation was.

I don't think they get kicked to the curb that fast. Probably hang around a week or so.
