Nzoner's Game Room>Lamar Jackson has asked Baltimore to trade him
RunKC 08:51 AM 03-27-2023

in regards to my future plans. As of March 2nd I requested a trade from the Ravens organization for which the Ravens has not been interested in meeting my value, any and everyone that’s has met me or been around me know I love the game of football and my dream is to help a team

win the super bowl. You all are great but I had to make a business decision that was best for my family and I. No matter how far I go or where my career takes me, I’ll continue to be close to my fans of Baltimore Flock nation and the entire State of Maryland. You’ll See me again

I could be dead wrong, but I honestly don't think Harbaugh and DeCosta ever really wanted Lamar back. At least not if they've got the football minds they're credited with having. Offer him just enough to avoid the inevitable racism backlash from the media (see Eric Bieniemy) that would come with just letting him walk, but little enough that you know he'd decline it.

Lamar simply isn't a good enough QB right now to merit a big deal with tons of guaranteed money. Some dumb team will give it to him, but he's not worth it imo.

Just trade him then if it’s possible. Sadly anyone who sees racism is a mouth breather, especially considering the contracts Mahomes, Wilson, Dak, Murray, and Watson have received.

But they offered him a ton of money and their entire offense revolves around him. I don't remotely think they don't want Lamar back.

I think they figured out that his demands were unwarranted and the only way he might figure that out is if he tested the open market. Now he's done that and likely realized the same on some level and it's a bit of a standoff. But I think the Ravens absolutely want him back but just on terms that don't dwarf those of Watson.

Gonna be fascinating how this resolves itself.

They got rid of Roman so they are moving away from one of the few coordinators who could design an offense around his skill set.

I would not be surprised if Jackson saves face and signs a 2-3 year deal and tries to build his value for the next contract while getting a guarantee in his contract that the Ravens can’t franchise him again.

He should be trying to get down to FL to play for MIA or Tampa IMO.

Agree that he'll end up being traded, and agree about anyone who sees racism in the Lamar situation being a mouth breather.

But the mouth breathers in most of today's media could find racism in a ham sandwich, and there are already many (Stephen A. Smith, RG3, Ryan Clark, Marcus Spears, etc etc etc) who have tried to make it about race. A simple 'Lamar Jackson + racism' google search will pull up pages of articles.

I don't care if he's black, white, purple, or green - I just don't think he's a QB that gives you a shot at winning a SB.

I agree, but that is way different than assuming that the Ravens absolutely win with Lamar. Because Lamar was supposed to win all 4 of his playoff games, and as previously stated, is 1-3.

I think it HAS to be that they are trying to avoid a bidding war, right?

RIGHT?

I mean it's a gamble, but if you happen to NOT get a QB for 2 first round picks and guarantee him 230+, you might get fired, but that specific action doesn't get you fired.

You do those things and his injuries get worse, you are fired.

I think he's betting Ballard won't pull the trigger and is trying to get the price down.

Or he is legit scared off. But fuck, if I'm Atlanta, I play coy a bit, but I do that shit.

Yup, with a guarantied contract and a salary cap both, you essentially lock your team in with a guy that has missed a ton of games his last 2 years. If he misses time you will not be able to afford the pieces to keep the team surviving while he is out. Oh, and lets give up the picks that could possibly get those pieces on top of that. Then you have the job risk, 'cause if you bring him in and you can't do better than a wild card and a loss, you and the staff you are responsible for will be looking for a job.
