Saccopoo Memorial Draft Forum>RB has an argument for being our biggest team need
RunKC 01:22 PM 01-20-2025
Man it’s bad. Like really bad. Really really really bad.

The Chiefs have the least explosive RB room in the NFL. Only 17 explosive plays from RB’s. Pacheco is the most explosive guy, and he’s been a good soldier here, but he’s not the guy. Excellent change of pace back, but his vision is bad and his lateral agility isn’t good either.

I love Kareem but he’s winding down. He’s 30 next year and you could see the wheels start to come off with usage.

I think we should consider a RB rd 1 if the board gets dicey, but ideally we sign someone like Ty Johnson from Buffalo. Also to preface this I think LT is numero uno for us and this is a scenario where one is just not attainable.

Everyone gets so mad at this offense and blames coaching but the pieces have just not been there. The truth is this team badly misses Jerrick McKinnon. They’ve gotten some of that from Perine but it’s just not enough.

We got 1 TD from a RB in the passing game this year. Compare that to:

2023: 7
2022: 12
2021: 5

Major major drop in production there that has killed the offense. I see these playoff teams with quality backs and it’s helped them tremendously.

Getting an explosive, dynamic playmaking RB has to be a major priority. It could change the entire offense and help soften the blow of losing Kelce (eventually) and working on LT

I think Veach will go for a RB at pick 95 or 133, barring some kind of trade. Martinez might be the best choice in that area. Based on the mock drafts I've done (for what little that's worth), he's nearly always available at 95, but only available at 133 maybe 1/3 of the time. Getting him at 133 would be great, but if they really want him they may have to take him at 95 (or trade up from 133).

That's my late round RB idea.

Jarquez Hunter.

How good might Auburn RB Jarquez Hunter be in the NFL?

🔸 32% avoided tackle rate (RB5)
🔹 4.10 yards after contact per rush (RB9)
🔸 22.6% of runs went for 10+ yards (RB2)

Where’s every one at on Kaleb Johnson?
I'm out, so far out.

Don't think he's fast enough, I don't think his YAC skills translate to the NFL, and there are a lot of guys who fit what KC does better.

Invalid. Precedes my give-a-damn activation date for pre-draft discussion. :-)

LOL, right! :-) I thought he was going to declare last year, was full-on ready to pound the table on him, and then he went and transferred. I had to wait a whole year, and now I'm just like, well, whatever because there are about 20 other RBs I like too.

No doubt he regrets the decision not to come out last year given this insane RB class. Where would he have been taken had he declared in '24?

Why not……just take him at 31? If he can go 36 or 38, you can pick him at 31.

He is THE perfect fit, I know the class is deep…there are levels to this and none of them fit our offense and what we need better.

I’m not even convinced he’ll make 31 at this point but if he did, I’m good there esp. if the board falls the way I think it will.

He’s exactly the type of player Veach swings for too, I can see it.

What's up with his 3-cone and Shuttle times? They almost don't make sense.
