How crazy is it that it took 67 days for the spread of coronavirus to reach 100,000 cases and then another 11 days to reach another 100,000 and then 4 days to reach another 100,000.

This is a crazy exponential increase. This thing is accelerating in its spread. It has already gone over 400,000 but Im not sure how many days it took to reach another 100,000 cases? Im thinking maybe less than 2 days?

Shits unreal. This thing is on a mad ****ing rampage. It seems like the more people that get infected, the more aggressive and faster it works. And, its invisible. Thats ****ed.

Well they say for every 1 person infected then another 3 will get it, so it makes sense that it's still spreading like crazy. The problem seems to be that incubation period where people can go a week or more with no symptoms and feel fine.

It's incredible we can live in a world with such a strange virus yet such perfection like Trevor Lawrence's GF.

Thats the thing thats ****ed and makes it so hard to contain.

Im not convinced that self-isolation and social distancing is enough.

We have to attack this thing eventually.

You can't possibly know that with any degree of certainty at all.

It appears that <2% of cases are in the severe-critical range. If the virus was just ramping up and there were only 100,000 people infected at that point, you should only see around 2000 in hospitals. I have no clue what the real numbers are/were but that's the point, no one does. We probably won't even have a clue on those until a year or two from now.

And I don’t think we ever will have a clue because its countries like China that will skew the numbers. In no way do I and many others believe that China has just 3,000 cases when this thing originated and spread from there over 3 months ago given the amount of people there and considering how aggressive, subtle and fast this virus is attacking the rest of the world.

Here in MO we had strict testing rules because they wanted to keep the numbers low now they are going to open them up after so many people bitched. They still haven't issued a state wide shutdown.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services announced the new guidance Monday, saying health care professionals should now use their judgment in deciding who to test.

Previously, Missouri set narrow perimeters to ration test kits: A patient had to have symptoms severe enough to be hospitalized, or have symptoms plus known contact with someone who already tested positive for COVID-19. Patients could also get tested if they had symptoms and also had recently traveled to an area with a documented widespread outbreak.

The loosened restrictions this week bring Missouri in line with the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which updated its guidelines for testing March 5 to defer to physicians.

With the new rules in Missouri and efforts to increase capacity in Illinois, officials in both states say totals of those testing positive for the virus are likely to increase.

I wish Missouri would tell is how many tests they've run.

A week ago, New York state had 87 detected coronavirus cases per 1m citizens

Here's where a lot of Southern states are *today*... the number of *detected* cases.

LA: 298 per 1m
MS: 107 per 1m
TN: 98 per 1m
GA: 98 per 1m
AR: 72 per 1m
FL: 66 per 1m
SC: 59 per 1m
AL: 44 per 1m

Other than Louisiana, which has really ramped up its testing, a lot of those states may be about a week behind the curve in New York in terms of both social distancing *and* testing/case-detection.
