Nzoner's Game Room>Jon Gruden made an oopsie [and has resigned]
Sassy Squatch 03:30 PM 10-08-2021

NFL statement: “The email from Jon Gruden denigrating DeMaurice Smith is appalling, abhorrent and wholly contrary to the NFL’s values. We condemn the statement and regret any harm that its publication may inflict on Mr. Smith or anyone else.” https://t.co/b9IUku9saH

Kudos to Mina for pushing this narrative.

The NFL, assuming they leaked the emails, may have done fucked up.

The NFL will just stencil more catchphrases in the back of end zones until they look like a social justice Nascar and go about business as usual

You need to rethink your thought.
You are correct, the NFL can suspend them, they can fine them, they cant fire them. They are under contract and in this case Gruden had 6 more years left on his deal. I mean sure the NFL could suspend Gruden indefinitely but that means Oakland has to pay him the whole time most likely. So its much better to get the team to take care of the issue and the financials.

It's not as simple as what people think and my entire point is, its always better to let the team work it out in a situation like this, that doesn't make it "black mail" by the league to push the Raiders hand to fire him.

I'm certain the league wants this gone ASAP and doesn't want any more digging, there is no telling who else gets caught in the net.

Now you are just splitting hairs to be obtuse.

If Gruden was employeed in the NFL the time these emails were sent they would be under his jurisdiction and they could suspend him as long as they fucking wanted. That's no different than firing him. He's not working for a NFL team and he's not getting paid by a NFL team during that time.

Seems like words out of Richardson's mouth had led to employment law settlements.

If Snyder was head of organization but not directly misbehaving and harassing staff, it could be like Dallas Mavericks and Mark Cuban.

If the investigation does show Snyder directly performing bad acts, seems like he will have to face the music for the NFL to look like it is has standards.

Urban not traveling back with his team was/is still a worse offense.

That has nothing to do with Gruden, you idiot.

If they determine that they never want Gruden in the NFL ever again because of the damage he has caused to the league... guess what, hes gone forever.

Are you this stupid that you dont understand that players and coaches are ALL under the jurisdiction of the NFL and they can do whatever they want to any of them with cause?

mike tirico - a black guy who thinks he's italian and is racist towards black people?

Went to go talk to him. Said I was a graduate student, interned at the place he used to work at and asked if he had any advice to grow in the business. His answer: “I’m going to go talk to some other graduate students.” Then talked to three other grad students.

He stopped to talk to most all of the grad students .. well, the white ones .. and there were 3 other black students there. Turned out we all had similar conversations. Didn’t want to talk to us, at all. You know who did though — Bob Costas.

Maybe Gruden, like the rest of us, understands you dont send these emails through your work email.
So your contention is that the NFL can do whatever it please but instead it had to blackmail the Raiders to fire him for them?

:-) Ok that makes complete sense.

He was drafted in 1996, IIRC, probably about 22, which would make him nearly 50. He actually doesn't look bad for that age. At least he's got all of his hair.

Yes because they didnt have cause to suspend him since the emails were from before he was employed in their league.

God damn you are fucking stupid.

You do you bro.
