Mahomes took the snap at the hash. He bounced towards Brown and made the pocket look smaller than it was.

Brown took 2 steps, re-anchors and face planted a stand-up rusher with a head of steam. That rusher gets nowhere close to Mahomes had Mahomes not bounced to his left (and even with the bounce, the rusher was no threat)

If that’s not a win, don’t bother tracking.

I don't think it was bad, but I wouldn't say that's a win. He's a full 3 yards behind Thuney. That's a lot to be bullrushed by a bad pass rusher.

On a passing play, if your offensive lineman doesn't give up a pressure, sack, batted ball or otherwise make the QB move and scramble, it's pretty much a win. Mahomes had a clean pocket on that play.

This. Mahomes moved two steps toward Brown. That is not something Brown is probably aware of at all. The Guy really did not ever push Brown back into the expected pocket. He was not winning the battle, it took him about 3 seconds to get where he ended face down. Give a QB 4-5 seconds it is a win.

Weatherly had 2 sacks and 4 QB hits in his 4 games as a Bronco headed into that game. He's been pretty decent for them as a stand-up rusher. Brown handled him just fine on that rep. He was in a set to prepare him for an edge rush and was able to re-anchor to avoid getting beat by a bull rush (and what appears to be an attempt at a rip move at the end).

I mean, the OT is almost always going to be behind the G - that's the nature of the position when you have to protect your outside shoulder and keep guys from getting to half a man on you.

This isn't run blocking - the set wasn't designed for him to just stonewall the rusher. Brown did his job on that rep. Not sure how that doesn't qualify as a win.

Two things that's going to win us a super bowl this season. Mahomes calming down in the pocket and Mahomes trusting his secondary and tertiary options......As JAGGY as they may be

I don't really think Mahomes did anything wrong there either.

Your feet tend to follow your eyes and QBs are almost all taught that 'bounce' to speed up their set/fire.

So when he scanned options as he was bouncing, he moved a bit. Happens to pretty much everyone. I had to watch that play several times before I even noticed it and I suspect nobody did in real time.

That's just football. A lot of this stuff is just football. We're not Alabama playing some DII school - these are all NFL players and the 99th percentile of speed/strength guys in the world. The Broncos are one of the best coached defensive units in the game (though their raw talent has decayed quite a bit). They're proud and many of them are playing for their professional lives week to week.

You're not going to see lineman suplexing dudes in this game. Merely losing slowly is a win for OL. It's a win for DBs. You can win a rep without it being a shutdown rep. And in fact, that's about where 90% of the wins will fall in this game.

If all Orlando Brown ever did on every single pass rush rep is exactly what he did there, he'd be a Pro Bowler. And if all Mahomes ever did is just a slight drift to his left when he's scanning the field, we'd never hear about his happy feet again.

Everything was just fine on that play.

Yea after watching this a few more times that play looked like he meant to do that. He's been getting in trouble a lot leaving the pocket so that was my first thought watching this play. I still think life would be a little easier for him if he worked the other guys in......They're NFL players there's has to be something they can do to get more looks

Orlando Brown Jr has progressed well as a pass blocker from week 5 until now. The first 4 weeks he allowed a combined 11 pressures(2.75 pressures per game). In weeks 5-13 he has allowed just 19 pressures(2.38 pressures per game). He allowed 0 pressures against the Denver Broncos.
