Media Center>Favorite Action Flicks?
Mennonite 12:14 PM 06-05-2021
Raiders of the Lost Ark and First Blood are classics, but I have a soft spot for the cheesier ones with bad one liners with over the top violence.

My favorite dumb (but awesome!) action flick is Invasion U.S.A. (1985) starring Chuck Norris and the immortal Richard Lynch.

You don't get scenes like this in modern action movies:

So what are some of your favorites?

Serious movies or cheesy?

Have you seen The Siege of Firebase Gloria? Hamburger Hill? Casualties of War?

Would movies about returning war vets qualify? You ever see Rolling Thunder starring William Devane and Tommy Lee Jones?

They're all serious to me

j/k, good question. I lean cheesy with an emphasis on action. I know they all have some serious baseline but I'm not into night ruiners like a Schindler's List.

I've seen Hamburger Hill, Platoon, etc. All awesome. Would love some more B-sides from the 80s in that style.

Not to sidetrack your thread though. All action recs are appreciated.

Eastern Condors (1987)? Bullet in the Head (1990)? Welcome Home Soldier Boys (1971)?

The answer is always Predator, although it is action/sci-fi.I'll have to think of some other movies, theres plenty more to choose from.

I feel like Terminator 2, Predator and Aliens have to top anyone's list.

Total Recall is awesome.

I'm not sure if it's action or more action adventure but I love the Brendan Fraser Mummy movies.

I'm a closeted Fast & Furious franchise fan.

Indiana Jones, Star Trek and Star Wars are great action movies for me as well.

And Face Off. It's so bad but I love it. I've just recently been able to flip past Road House without watching. Point Break needs another run on cable (and not the new one).

Other mentions: Die Hards, Terminators, Wicks, Matrices, Mad Maxs, The Wild Bunch.

F&F is ok, but uses waay to much sped up camera trickery and fake CGI for my taste.

All the others you mentioned are great.

Physics man. It’s blatant disregard for physics. First one worked back in the day.

Didn’t see anymore for awhile until I was flipping through and there were two mustangs pulling a safe. It was the dumbest shit I’ve ever seen ever. That was written produced filmed and edited by guys that have never pulled a load ever.

Physics. I can only suspend disbelief so far.
