Ha.

I've always been a Marvel over DC guy as well, but I seem to like DC graphic novels far better than Marvel's. Strange. I particularly like Marvel's cosmic storylines over DC's, and that very much includes Thanos over Darkseid. This applies to the movie lines to this point as well - the MCU has FAR exceeded the DCU.

I still think it's a matter of quantity over quality. I know there's a group hate-on for Man of Steel, but I think it and BvS are both at least on par with either Avengers movie. The last two Captain America movies are better, but they have the benefit of established characters in an established universe. Guardians of the Galaxy was good. But after that what is there? The first Iron Man doesn't really hold up now, as great as Downey is in the role, and the next two weren't very good. Neither Thor movie was particularly good (though I liked them both). There's a lot of 'meh' there, in overall Marvel terms, but they helped establish the overall universe. Wheras we only have two DC universe movies so far. That's all.

I'd say check back in a year or two, once we see what Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman and Justice League turn out to be, and we can actually compare the two on a bit more equal terms. If they turn out to be anywhere close to as good as the trailers this weekend were, we might well be talking about the two cinematic universes on relatively even footing. Time will tell.

I agree. The Man of Steel took a while to grow on me because it was such different take but I really enjoy the film today. As mentioned in the thread, I finally watched BvS UE last night and was blown away. I don't understand all of the criticism I've seen on a CP but I didn't see the theatrical and I'm not a comic book reader.

Outside of Ant Man, Guardians and Winter Soldier, the Marvel movies for me have been a gigantic "Meh". As you pointed out, Iron Man no longer holds up, the Thor movies aren't good, the Hulk movies have been crap, Iron Man 2 was awful, three was a little better, Captain America was sooooooo slow and boring and so on. And my dislike of the Avengers movies is well documented.

I'm really surprised at the reaction to BvS but if all of the changes at WB make for even better DC films, I'm all for it. The Justice League and Suicide Squad trailers look awesome and personally, I loved Affleck as Batman, so I'm looking forward to his stand alone film.

Sweet trailer, looking forward to the next installation. I also recently watched BvS -- thought the first half was a little disjointed, but after that, I was all in. This looks even better, although who really knows from the trailer.

Will Superman be in this, or is he still taking a break in the coffin?

Most seem to like him...I do. Did you like Bale?

I'm guessing he shows up toward the end of the movie.

I hope Green Lantern gets involved later but nothing has been said.

I've heard Matt Damon would do a superheroine if Affleck assisted directing. He could be my GL or Green Arrow.

A brooding, ripped, enigmatic, aloof Aquaman seems pretty fucking perfect. They need to get as far away as possible from the absurd, useless, orange-suited third-rate banana that we all think of when we think Aquaman.

So far I like the casting, though I definitely would've been fine with whathisname from the Flash TV show being in the movie.

Glad they're lightening the mood too. Too fucking dark. If you want to do stand-alones with a darker-themed Dark Knight, that's fine, but when you expand the scope to Justice League, I'll take something a little less pessimistic and grim, please, thankyouverymuch.

I'm hoping he does a Superhero instead, unless Damon went all Caitlyn Jenner and I didn't know about it...

:-)

Damon as Green Lantern would be pretty awesome, now that I think about it...

If Affleck brings in Matt Damon then fuck the entire DC franchise.

People said that about Affleck as Batman until they saw him

Yes I did. Then again, the only Batman I didn't like was Val. Admittedly, I've never been a big fan of Affleck. He's one rung above Cruise on my current cheeseball actors list. Thought Argo was great though.

I will see Suicide Squad in the theater, so that will probably be my first viewing of the new Batman. I'll wait until BvS is on Netflix or HBO to watch. If Suicide Squad is good, I'll probably see Justice League in the thater.

In a rather wacky fandom fantasy, an online petition was launched recently by fans of Charlie Hunnam asking DC and Warner Brothers to cast him as Green Arrow in The Justice League Part One movie, slated to release in November next two years.

The petition was launched on Change.org by a group of comic book and Charlie Hunnam enthusiasts who were disappointed with DC’s decision not to feature Green Arrow in the big screen version of The Justice League, which is to be directed by Zach Snyder, and stars Ben Affleck (Batman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Henry Cavill (Superman), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), and Ray Fisher (Cyborg) in the lead roles.

Earlier, DC and Warner Brothers had announced their decision not to include Green Arrow in the core group of Justice League superheroes, disappointing fans of the hit live-action TV show Arrow, who had grown used to Stephen Amell’s portrayal of the green hood-sporting superhero.

But after Amell was not picked up for a film version, rumors began circulating on the internet that Warner Brothers and DC were open to the idea of including Green Arrow’s character in The Justice League Part One, but that they were not satisfied with Amell playing the part. It was then that Charlie Hunnam fans came up with the idea of him being cast as Oliver Queen, aka Green Arrow, primarily because of his uncanny similarities with the character in the comic books.

Who will wear the green hood on the big screen? And I believe Charlie Hunnam of the recently ended Sons of Anarchy and Pacific Rim is perfect for the job. [Charlie Hunnam] definitely has the looks. He’s got the seriousness and grittiness that DC is bringing to their superhero films. He’s got the acting ability. He’s got the fan-base. He’s got what it takes to bring the Green Arrow to the DC movie universe and to finally make an appearance alongside the Justice League in 2017… Don’t you all want to see Oliver Queen be brought to life on the big screen? All Charlie Hunnam needs now is to be noticed by both DC and Warner Brothers to get this going!

Well, some think that Charlie Hunnam would make a fine Green Arrow, but until this dream turns into reality, we can at least get our regular Charlie Hunnam fix in Crimson Peak and Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur.

Green Arrow is such a lame "superhero". I hope they leave him out.
