Reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers is so disgruntled with the Green Bay Packers that he has told some within the organization that he does not want to return to the team, league and team sources told ESPN on Thursday.

The Packers are aware of his feelings, concerned about them and have had team president Mark Murphy, general manager Brian Gutekunst and head coach Matt LaFleur each fly out on separate trips to meet with Rodgers at various points this offseason, sources told ESPN.

"As we've stated since the season ended, we are committed to Aaron in 2021 and beyond," Gutekunst told ESPN. "Aaron has been a vital part of our success and we look forward to competing for another championship with him leading our team."

Rodgers has not budged this offseason, but neither have the Packers, who have made it known they are not interested in trading Rodgers anywhere.

The San Francisco 49ers called the Packers on Wednesday night, a source told ESPN, and the Los Angeles Rams inquired about Rodgers in January before they traded for Matthew Stafford.

The Packers quickly dismissed the Rams' overtures, the source said.

The Packers have offered to extend Rodgers' contract, sources told ESPN.

Rodgers is unhappy for a variety of reasons, with some of it dating back to last year's draft when the Packers didn't inform him before trading up to draft a quarterback with their first-round pick. Some took this as a sign that his days in Green Bay could he numbered.

He also is at a different point in his personal life, having recently gotten engaged to actress Shailene Woodley. Rodgers also has hosted "Jeopardy!" and said it would be a dream to become the full-time host. He could play football and host Jeopardy! together.

Rodgers has made cryptic comments about his future in Green Bay, but he has told others that he does not want to return.

On draft night, the Packers' biggest issue isn't who they land, but whether they can keep the former NFL MVP.

Rodgers' contract contained a $6.8 million roster bonus due in March. It could have been converted into a signing bonus that would have freed up more than $4.5 million in salary-cap space for this season but instead it "vested as scheduled," a source told ESPN at the time. It's listed as an automatic conversion in Rodgers' contract but even that has to be signed off on by both parties. It's not known if the Packers tried to convert and Rodgers refused to sign off on it, or if they did not attempt a conversion.

ONE Super Bowl appearance.

Crazy.
At the end of the day some it falls on him because he's the QB, but a lot of it falls on the Packers too. That Super Bowl team was top 5 in defense, both in yards and points. They were good. They haven't sniffed those numbers in the decade since.

Which would be one thing if the Packers had been just overloading everything into the offense, then that's on Rodgers. But as we've seen, they pretty much haven't spent a single 1st round pick to help Rodgers and instead of drafted defense and backup players.

Even worse they have yet to field a Top 5 defense during that time if I am not mistaken.

Anyone who doesn't care about having competition in the division "because Mahomes" is being short sighted. NE made it to so many super bowls in part because they frequently had the bye, because of the division. Now there is only 1 bye, and 1 game could be the difference between that bye vs playing 60 mins against another playoff team.

Doesn’t he have a top OL in GB? Denver doesn’t have that. Also he must be mistaken. He’s had to beat out the Lions, Chicago with Turdbiski, and the Vikings with Cousins the last few years. That’s a much easier task than beating Mahomes, and Herbert, prob would sweep the Fade though. Fuck his unclutch ass, let him go to Dungver, we’ll still roll those fucks!

Sure, but that ship has already sailed in the AFC West. Carr, although far from great, is better than any AFC East QB during the bulk of the Patriots reign and Herbert may already be the 2nd or 3rd best QB in the conference. If given the option, would I rather face Drew Lock 2x a year over Rodgers? Sure. Hell, I’d opt to face Drew Lock weekly if we could. But Mahomes at this point is the undisputed best QB in the game. Therefore, we should fear no other QB.

Aaron Rodgers has one of the best WR’s in the game, decent RB’s, a top notch offensive line... the “Aaron Rodgers has no talent around him” narrative is bullshit.

Why does it matter what round of the draft that surrounding talent was acquired?

Tyreek Hill was a 5th round draft pick.

Kelce was a 3rd round draft pick.

They're solid now but Aaron carried the team through the McCarthy years which is most of his career. A terrible coach.

And Tom Brady “carried” Bill Belichick... a career sub .500 HC without Brady... to 6 Super Bowls.

Right. Mahomes has already had a more accomplished career from a team achievement standpoint and where is his 1st round talent? Sure, Andy Reid but remember, until Mahomes came along Andy was best known for the best coach who couldn’t win it all.

Obviously Rodgers is a great talent. And, it sure seems like GB could’ve done more to supply him with some more weapons but people act like he had Browns 2017 talent his whole career. He’s always had at least one stud WR. The Ghost of Mike McCarthy didn’t make him decide not to run in that TD in this last NFCCG.

I didn't say they didn't give him any talent at all. That's overselling it. He certainly has talent. I would love to have Aaron Jones on the Chiefs. And they've had some good WRs and linemen.

But the reality is they've yet to field a top 5 defense ever again. They've had some okay defenses, but in the last 10 years Mahomes has played with more top 10 scoring defenses than Rodgers has. And Rodgers had a 7 year head start. They've still had chances and some slightly above average defense, but like this year, you aren't going to win it all if you let Tom Brady blow you up in the first half then give up a terrible hail mary at the end of the 1st half. LaFleur made a terrible decision at the end of that game but they probably aren't there if their defense doesn't give up an inexcusable TD at halftime.

Denver's offensive line is about to become much, much better.

I would absolutely welcome the idea of having two more big time matchups on the schedule.

Denver even with Rodgers is no real threat to us when it comes to the division. So I say bring it on.
You haven't been paying attention to the way the Broncos have been building their roster.
