Nzoner's Game Room>Report: Matt Nagy will be fired after Thanksgiving game
siberian khatru 10:36 AM 11-23-2021
So he has something in common with turkeys: They're both cooked Thursday.

A Pulitzer-prize winning Chicago reporter, @Konkolskorner, who doesn't regularly cover the Bears, reports that coach Matt Nagy has been told he'll be fired after Thursday's game at Detroit. https://t.co/47b6nzceyW

Was anybody else a little suspicious of this report based purely on the fact that the reporter has won a Pulitzer prize?

Not to mention strapping another coaching staff to Justin Fields, this could be a David Culley kind of hire for them because no respectable name will take the job, even if it is the Bears, a historic franchise.
Seems premature to say Fields is not going to pan out. Mac Jones seems to be the only one who has clearly out performed him of the 5 NFL 1st round QBs.

True, but everyone knew this was going to be Nagy's last year if he didn't make the playoffs, the Bears would just be cutting ties early to get their coaching search started. Fields might be great in the coming years, but he wasn't Mahomes or Herbert in his first year to save Nagy's job.

The NFL is desperate for "QB guru" coaches whether their reputation for that recognition is deserved or not.

Much like Marty Mornhinweg and Pat Shurmur, the NFL won't be able to quit Nagy, and he'll get plenty of run being an offensive assistant for many teams over the next couple decades.

Hell, with a bit of luck and the right situation, he might even get another shot as a head coach. You never know.

As if the Thanksgiving game could get any more awful.

Whoever scheduled the Bears and Lions on Thanksgiving deserves to be fired more than Nagy.

You are totally spot on.

He'll unquestionably be an OC again somewhere next season, and if it's the right situation he'll be in the HC discussion again within 3-4 years. At the very least, he's going to be running some team's offense for the foreseeable future. He has Andy and Pat to thank for his cozy niche in this league for the next 10+ years.

It was entertaining back then. The Bears and Lions have now played each other 3 of the last 4 Thanksgivings. You would think they would mix it up some.

No telling if they fire him later, might be a leak that just didn't get info exactly right but he's still going to get canned.
Management leaked it to get a feel for what the media and people think.

It should be obvious at this point, but.......

What was the douche that was O Coordinator at Denver during Mannings years?

They sucked his dick HARD over their success when anyone with a brain knew it was Manning.

He ended up being a complete abortion as head coach.

And it’s a reporter who doesn’t cover the Bears or sports in general.

JFC.
You'll be drunk through the whole game though.

Nagy just needed a above average decent QB. He's got them into the playoffs with average -ish quarter backs.
