Veach don't want no post-season failures.

2018 AFCCG loss to Patriots? Gut the defense and start over. Super Bowl win. Check.

2020 SB loss to Tampa Bay where O-Line was overwhelmed never giving Pat a chance? Gut it and start over.

Veach wants trophies and lots of them. Veach don't play

Yeah, it makes one uneasy, but its the right decision to tear down the line group and rebuild.
I think he's earned the benefit of the doubt at this point.

I'm fucking shocked but not at all uneasy.

Restructuring his contract just gives them less flexibility with him overall and at this point, he's expendable.
If Clark plays up to his cap hit he will break every sack and tackle record in the books.

I don’t know about you guys but I’m excited about the possibilities of this line for 2021. CEH might be a beast next year..

My guess is they're working a trade or two right now which means it could be almost anybody that's currently overpaid and in need of being offloaded.

We won't really know more until more guys hit the street. If I had to bet though, I'd say Veach will have something done before we even really know what's going on.

Only 3 things come to mind here and I'm on board with 2 of them.

1. Cut bait now, injuries at their age is always likely an on going issue.

2. The SB performance & # 1 was enough to warrant the drastic change now.

3. Veach fell out of bed and hit his head very hard is now thinking he saw something good in the SB OL performances?

Fisher was playing great until he had a freak injury.

Same, but Niang allowed zero sacks for two consecutive seasons, although his senior year was cut short. I can't help but wonder if he's capable of being a good LT. He seems to have more natural ability than Fisher.

At least we won’t be held hostage by the injury reports of Fish and Mitch.. No day to day bullshit..

They cut them both. Safe to say they determined neither one was likely to play/be effective while playing next year.

But not "early and often" necessarily. They're going to sign somebody really soon that will be a starter.
It's obvious you'll have to get at least one tackle from FA, however its a good time to be drafting O line. You'll probably have to make some schematic changes to help them adjust to the pro level but I don't think this is as bad on the surface as some have made it out to be. Those moves had to be made and you can go into FA and the draft with a clear path forward with some very good long-term options available to you.
