Media Center>Favorite Action Flicks?
Mennonite 12:14 PM 06-05-2021
Raiders of the Lost Ark and First Blood are classics, but I have a soft spot for the cheesier ones with bad one liners with over the top violence.

My favorite dumb (but awesome!) action flick is Invasion U.S.A. (1985) starring Chuck Norris and the immortal Richard Lynch.

You don't get scenes like this in modern action movies:

So what are some of your favorites?

I used to stay up and watch action schlock on weekends during my Jr High and High School years.

Mostly movies based in the 80s-early 90s.

^ The whole movie was just a setup for that line. It was worth it.
Yeah, I got it fixed.

I just searched "I come in Peace" and they changed the name to "Dark Angel" or some crap like that.

With A Vengeance could have been even better if they had gone with the alternate ending.

Rutger Hauer did a metric shitload of cheesy action movies.

One that stands out to me is "Split Second".

The Last Boyscout is more of an A movie, but it kicks so much ass I have to list it here.

Running Scared.

The one with Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines. It sits on the edge of A/B films, but still great.

Blind Fury. :-)

It's been 25ish years since I've seen that one, but I remember the scene where he drops his sword on the road and counts to find his way back. I could be way off, though.

Red Letter Media has done a lot of "reviews" about shitty 80's action schlock.

Samurai Cop.....I need to watch that one.

Oh god you have to watch that movie. It's my favorite "so bad it's good" movie. It's available on blu ray.

If you like these sorts of movies I highly recommend joining the torrent tracker Cinemageddon. Golan Globus, PM Entertainment, Godfrey Ho - shit is their specialty.

Forgot about Blind Fury. Loved Rutger Hauer in that, but reminds me of the awesome Sho Kosugi. Pray for Death and all the Ninja movies were a blast.

He's a ****ing unstoppable killer cyborg from the future and he's doing lame "fish out of water" bits like he's Balki from Perfect Strangers.

Oh, and they also manage to give him this candyass last line:

"Now I know why you cry"

And then sinks himself into molten slag as John "Badass Future Saviour of Humanity" screeches and blubbers like a bitch.

The only time the T-800 should use a line like that is if he's just shoved a canister of teargas in someone's ass.
