Nzoner's Game Room>What are the Catchphrases you heard as a kid growing up from parents or grandparents?
ROYC75 04:35 AM 08-19-2019
I would here this a lot, "Cats fur, to make a pair of kitten britches"!

Sometimes I heard this, "I'm happy as a clam in high water".

Speaking of the davenport/couch thing, I remember a lot of older folks calling a couch a "Daveno" when I was a kid. Apparently, that was a PNW thing.

Random out of the blue while staring off into space: "Yet, yet, yet, this is America...."

Referring to grandchildren: "Damn sardines."

We still call dinner supper at home but when we go out to dinner, supper just doesn't sound right away from home.

Giving something "a lick and a promise". Didn't realize what it meant until I did it the first time so to speak.
