I've caught the bladesmithing bug from watching a crap-ton of Forged in Fire, and will finally get the chance to make a knife from railroad spike at a workshop. Any tips or things to keep in mind? And while we're here, feel free to drop some of your projects from both past and present! [Reply]

purchase "A Blacksmithing Primer" Randy McDaniel [Reply]
I've considered dabbling in that myself, but I have enough hobbies. I do have a few nice blades though. A Randall Model 8 I purchased many years ago, and a hand forged knife a friend of my grandfather made back in the day. I believe he forged it from a leaf springs. [Reply]
When you were partying, I studied the blade. When you were having premarital sex, I mastered the blockchain. While you wasted your days at the gym in pursuit of vanity, I cultivated inner strength. And now that the world is on fire and the barbarians are at the gate you have the audacity to come to me for help. [Reply]
I’ve got a nice pocket knife that was made by a guy that was on an episode of Forged in Fire, that my son bought me when he spent some time in Alaska. Helluva nice knife, but a little too large and fancy to carry around.
Can’t remember the guys name and don’t think he won.

Son brought me another knife from Japan that’s probably the sharpest in my collection. Opens like a straight razor. Cut your dick skinner off.
