Question for the more informed here...

If I strangle someone who has COVID, while having COVID myself, because quarantining with them is insufferable, will that be classified as a COVID-related death?

No. It's also not possible to commit a felony during quarantine.

Think of it like a purge situation.

We're still getting pounded pretty good here in Missouri. 2 weeks behind Chicago I guess.

Super Bowl will probably be another super spreader event. Then hopefully cases will fall off a cliff heading into summer.

The local school closed today and tomorrow because of "cold". The lows were definitely cold, but the number of kids and teachers who were going to be out was the deciding factor to make it a 4 day break.

We've got schooled delayed and closed all over but it's because of the cold. We haven't been above zero for almost 48 hours now. The high yesterday was -4 actual temp.

And yes, it's the media's fault, at least here. The local media starts every newscast with the number of new cases and deaths. EVERY newscast.

They don't ever mention declines, overall percentages, or anything like that. Just new cases and deaths.

And then people rush out to get tested and get corporate insurance in case they need that. You may very well have a point when it comes to the KC metro. Here, it's not like that. Not at all.
The good news: It'll likely be over by March, maybe February, and omicron may be the most infectious form this virus is able to take (it's already the most infectious virus known it appears). And in that case, it will continue to dominate future mutations as they occur while, perhaps becoming even less capable of causing damage to the host.

Guy I work with... Very anti vaccine, Covid is a hoax, etc. Tested positive about a week ago along with his wife. They both have multiple risk factors. His wife has completely recovered. She had 2 shots.

He is now in the hospital with phenomena in both lungs. Prognosis not looking very promising.

Fuck.

I read some article (sorry, no link) a while back that said that historic plagues and pandemics typically last 2.5 to 3.5 years. I presume that at that point it's burned through the population. So I'm hopeful that we're getting close. The vaccines may extend it a bit more by flattening the peak, but let's hope we're almost done.
