The rollout of this NeW vArIaNt!!!! feels completely stiff and scripted. It feels like a completely poorly written screenplay. I practically expect them to try to rebrand it Covid-21 at any moment now.

No on the vaccine. As I've stated before, I've made it this far working in Corrections. Either I've had it or I'm sooooo very lucky. Either way, I don't need the jab thanks.
I guess we'll see in a couple of weeks then. But, since history has shown that viruses tend to weaken over time with mutations, I feel pretty good about this thing becoming a common cold. No, we'll never be rid of it, but it's not going to be some bubonic plague (It never was). It's a corona virus, of course you can get it more than once. Just like the common cold.
I remain unconcerned.
I got it last October (2020), and got vaccinated in late may. Two of My co workers who got it when I did got tested for antibodies recently and they were off the charts. My doctor told me last week since I had COVID last year and got the vaccine my antibodies have mutated and can cover different strains. He also said there’s not enough people in my situation getting reinfected to justify me getting boosted. Plus I’m in good shape and healthy. Btw he is a pulmonary doctor who has been dealing with a shit load of COVID patients.
It was like getting the flu for me. I think If I was Doctor Direckshun PHD I would recommend keeping old and sick people home with masks on during this next terrifying step in the horrifying global pandemic but let the rest of us live our lives. I went to Lima Ohio last December and was sitting at the bar side by side with people, 30 minutes north on I 75 Michigan was in complete lock down and it did nothing. [Reply]

It appears, so far, to be far more contagious than Delta, while being less dangerous. It also seems to be more likely to infect the previously infected; it doesn't seem to care too much about "natural immunity." But the vaccines also seem to be effective against it.
But that's only after a few days of observations. It takes weeks to draw firmer conclusions.
So: do everything responsibly. Wear a mask indoors, get your vaccine, get a booster if you're eligible.

But it like everyone came to realization that COVID is bullshit. And we all just moved on.
I drove from NJ to Asheville NC 3 weeks ago and it was a time loop. EVERYBODY was wearing masks EVERYWHERE lol then I got to Georgia and it was back to normal (no masks). They are ruining Vegas right now with that mask shit. [Reply]

Let liberals live in their shitholes, they deserve it. [Reply]

I drove to Iowa in Sept and stopped in Asheville and it was paranoia city with people on street with masks and stricter rules in places. I was surprised the Biltmore estate was even open, but they required masks and social distancing. No one social distanced though. Georgia and Tennessee were sane but then I got to Illinois and it was just as bad, or even worse than NC. Iowa let up again.
The 7Elevans around here have a mask sign on their door but no one inside is seen wearing them except maybe one person. [Reply]

The bolded part is the issue in your analogy. [Reply]
