Kansas City is trading its first-round pick Thursday night, along with three other picks in the 2021 and 2022 drafts, to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for Pro Bowl OT Orlando Brown and one pick in the 2021 draft and another in 2022, per sources.

That's not selling out. That's being foolish. Overpaying for someone is just that, foolish. We still have other needs and can't afford to waste limited cap space on a guy who will not live up to his contract. If you are willing to spend that much money on a safety, you get a younger, equally talented one. I also am not willing to waste prime Mahomes years on rebuilds because we have terrible, toxic contracts on the books. Mahomes didn't take a team friendly contract to deal with rebuild years. As long as we have prime Mahomes we should never look to rebuild, only reload. [Reply]

If HB wants top 3 money, you could go get Marcus Williams instead. He'd be expensive but he'd also be an all-star safety that's younger than HB.
Exactly.
It’s all about value throughout the contract.
There’s a much better chance of Marcus playing at a high level throughout a 3-5 year deal than there is of Tyrann doing so, given age, style of play, injury history and other factors.
A short term deal doesn’t give the team cap flexibility so the obvious choice is Marcus in this situation.
In fact, I’d LOVE IT if we could go into next draft with Marcus at safety and Michael Thomas at WR2.

Williams is getting up there in age. It's starting to show. [Reply]
