This is why I like the Worldometer tracker best. They actually put the positives and deaths where they belong, when they actually happened.

Wednesday 8/25 at 1386 is the highest death total so far on the Delta surge. Though I expect that to rise as more people who are sick now die.

An interesting personal anecdote, a gal that works for me 23 yr old brother in law nearly went on a ventilator a couple days ago. They already had him on steroids, but as a last ditch thing before intubating him, they hit him with a "massive" steroid dose, and he's been dramatically better since. This kid was in good shape relatively, and when he headed to the hospital, his extremities were turning grey and his lips blue from lack of oxygen.
I think the silent hypoxia is what is getting people in real trouble by the time the feel it and get to the hospital they are in rough shape even for younger people, if you do get it I would recommend checking you oxygen at home no matter how you are feeling.

Hope everything turns out ok.

I have a family member who is a doctor at a large Florida hospital, talked with him on Wed. he said that they have had people dying sitting in the emergency room. NO beds and out of ventilators. Said almost 300 in his hospital have covid and most are NOT vaccinated. He said it's very bad there most doctors and nurses are working 16 hour days or more, losing patients that have other issues that need a vent but can't get one because the others chose not to get vaccinated.
I'm kind of a live and let live person...make your own decision but glad I got the shot! Just an fyi.

One of my best friends little brothers has been on a respirator the last few days. He’s 31, in decent shape, and an occasional smoker. Could use all the good thoughts and prayers he can get. This is the first one that’s been really eye opening to me that it can happen to anyone. Stay safe everyone!

Man, that's so damn disheartening..... FFS, in my not-life-or-deatb job, it sucks when there are glaring issues and you're on your own to deal with them with no end in sight..... much less what the frontline workers are dealing with for the 2nd year in a row. :-)

This is where I think we fail, we create more drama (there is enough of this out there to begin with) than we need to via twitter / news outlets.

I just looked at Florida's deaths per day and their 7 day rolling average is 53 deaths, and yesterday they only had 34.

The 7 day rolling average for the US is 900ish, and the 3 day is 1200ish which is the same we had in March.

Can’t say for certain and didn’t ask, but based on the severity, his age, and his usual mindset I’m guessing probably not.

Which part was "overreacting"?

The dramatic wrongly stated over 2,000 deaths bit.

As I noted above, including catch up death reporting in a days deaths totals is not a good way to go about reporting the facts.

You know exactly what was...in what way are deaths "soaring"? Don't play dumb. Go on explain how they are "soaring"......

The headline literally mentions the backlog. I'm not sure how folks would misinterpret that.

Which part was wrong?

Keep checking severe breakthrough tracking from CDC to see if % increasing with delta (not seen yet):
Out of >168 million Americans who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19
6059 hospitalized COVID breakthroughs (0.003%)
Deaths 0.0006% for COVID-19https://t.co/83MMPFXstc
