So there's an article on NFL network saying that Orlando Brown is expected to sign for 6 years $145 mil.
That comes to $24.16 mil/yr and makes him the highest paid offensive lineman in football. It also would give him the 19th highest salary per year in the NFL
How would you feel if that is the contract he ended up signing?
I'm fine with it. He is a top 5 LT and he's only 26 next season. A young great LT is a guy you can't let leave. [Reply]

Franchise tag extension deadline
The deadline for teams to negotiate and agree to an extension with the players they franchised tagged is set to be July 15, according to Spotrac. That would be the same date as it was in 2021, with the time for that deadline likely to be 4 PM ET.
If teams do not manage to negotiate an extension with the player, they will not have another opportunity to do so until the conclusion of the 2022 NFL season. Therefore, that player would be left playing in 2022 on the tag price for their respective position.

Watch it there Bud! CP told me he's the best option we can get. No chance to get another one for 2023. So pay him anything he wants. Doesn't matter if he can't block Bosa or any speed rusher. [Reply]

If he can't block any speed rusher, how did he only allow 6 sacks total? [Reply]

July 15. If he doesn’t sign an extension by then, it is impossible to do so this year. [Reply]
So remember when Chris Jones and the Chiefs were just too damn far apart to make anything work like 2 days before the deadline?
People want to know the progress of this extension and are starting to make stupid assumptions because things are quiet. Just fucking chill, okay? Veach tends to get these deals done in relative secrecy, where you don't hear about any details of the negotiations until WHAM the thing is already done. Even the Orlando Brown trade itself came out of nowhere. The Tyreek trade blindsided everybody... nobody knew about the stall in the negotiations until after he had already been sent to the Dolphins.
No, I don't know if an extension will get done, but if it does, you're not going to be massaged into it. You're not going to get updates. You're not going to know if the two sides talked today or the day before. You're not going to know parameters for structure negotiation or demands from both sides or any of that shit. So just relax, man. [Reply]
