Jim Callis rates the Royals draft as the 7th best, mainly based on the local picks. So there's that.

Jon “buster” Heyman said his sources rated it 10th best draft.

I dont have an Athletic subscription, but maybe someone else here does. Interview with Sherman.

I'm weird, but to me the most important line from the interview was: "Shane Panzini from New Jersey is another one. He’s a little bit older..."

Any owner knows Bobby Witt was at the Futures Game. It takes a more involved owner to know his 3rd-rounder was old for his draft class. https://t.co/srzsU9X191

I read Law’s AL Central write up. He’s higher on Kudrna than Mozzicato. That’s interesting. When you break Kudrna down, he already has mid-90s velo, the making of a good changeup, and a breaking ball that looks like it could be plus in the future. So it makes some sense to rate him so highly.

His critique with this Royals draft is betting so much of high school pitching.

I get that they’re trying to spread out their talent a bit and just get the most upside they can, but I still would have liked to see them take Khalil Watson at 7 and figure out a way to get to Kudrna’s number later.

Would I rather have Kudrna and Watson than Mozzicato, Kudrna, and Carter Jensen, for example?

Yeah, I think I would.

Sherman was extremely knowledgeable about the team and the farm system. He's clearly very engaged as an owner. That's a big positive in my book.

What's unknown is his level of accountability. He expressed confidence in "the process" at the major and minor league levels, but we'll see how far that goes if this shit continues. I think someone that engaged at all levels would eventually start seeing with his own eyes that something's not working and needs to be fixed.

The interesting thing that I’m holding onto from the interview is he never seemed to say Moore had a “blank check” or a “clean slate” since ownership changed hands. That’s what I’m holding onto, anyway.

If we're in Baltimore tonight Soler would have just hit a grand slam. Either way, if we can play the Orioles every day for the rest of the season we might get back in this playoff race.

My gut said Duffy came up lame on that run to first last inning. Looks like it was right.

The one silver lining to Mondi being hurt has been how well Nicky Lopez has done this year. Tough AB, can always bunt, and always gives great AB’s with stellar D. Love watching him play.

Doesn't surprise me. Royals draft outside the first round was very good.

He's useful don't get me wrong but I thought there was at least a small amt of power in there. His swing now doesn't look like he's even capable of hitting a home run.
