Nzoner's Game Room>Andy Reid is a terrible head football coach
rabblerouser 09:43 AM 09-18-2015
Andy Reid got depantsed in the Super Bowl by Bruce Arians.

Bruce Fucking Arians and Tom Fucking Brady.

Well, you see, Andy Reid is an offensive genius, and how dare we question Andy Reid's genius in not running the ball and not utilizing the screen pass in the face of an epically brutal pass rush, a patchwork offensive line and a QB with a hurt toe?

How dare we question his geniusness?

Read somewhere that he was NOT warned.

I just watched the Dee Ford Offsides play. The replay doesn't show much. The angle is terrible.

What it does show is that the Cheaters center brought the ball back about a foot. Of course, the "blue line" doesn't move, but the ball sure did.

I'm not certain I know the rule on that. Is the LOS determined by the line judge? The sideline marker? The ball itself? Is it the offensive side of the blue line or the defensive side?

If it is the ball, Ford was definitely not lined up off-side. If it is the blue line, the blue line is about a foot wide.

Another tough, outcome-altering call, to be sure.

I want nothing more than "because Chiefs" to be completely eradicated from our vocabulary, but if their was ever a moment in the most critical of times that phrase applied, it was that moment there.:-)

I should also probably mention that (based on the replay) the flag appeared to come in AFTER the pick.

That's not definite, of course, because you can't see everything.

Probably Homer Eyes. (I also thought the kick hit Edelman in the bicep.)

Absolutely. I was just mind-blown that "lining up", one of the simplest aspects of the entire game, got so completely botched by a non-rookie.

Well it's the day after a loss, that's the day Mr. Andy Reid does his best coaching for the game that's already happened.

Like Eric Berry and Dee Ford, I don't welcome Mr. Andy Reid to our team anymore. I think he's too mice, too PC, to friendly, for the larger job he's been hired to do.

Other than the center usually being allowed to roll the ball sideways (east/west) to get the laces to his liking, then recenter it (perhaps a very slight lift to get it back to center), all soon after he lines up for the play, the ball is never supposed to move north/south. So yes, they chose it ignore that if it happened.

Remember Mr. FAX, NFL officials call everything they see, but only see what they want...

Interesting.

Using the "blue line" as a gauge, the Cheaters' center brought the ball back about 12 inches or so. Again, if one uses the ball position as the LOS, Ford was not offside. If we're using the offensive-side edge of the fabulous blue line, he was not offside. It's strange to admit, but I always thought the length of the football represented the LOS and the "neutral zone" ... perhaps I've been wrong about that all these years.

Of course, Wally said that he accepts the call ... so there's that. On the other hand, Wally also said that the officials normally give you a warning before they throw the flag and, in this case, no warning was provided ... so there's that. And Wally also mentioned that the line judge was reaching for his flag before the pick ... so there's that (I can't verify that official's aspect from the replay). Just another critical call in a crucial, game-changing, result-affecting moment? Go figure.

That leaves us with the remaining troubling issues including the RTP penalty on Jones ... another non-reviewable judgment call from an official who didn't have a good look at the play and another flag that will go down in history as a giant FU to Chiefs fans everywhere. That's 15 yards, an automatic 1st, and (I think - if I remember it correctly) the continuation of a TD drive for the Cheaters.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm damn tired of losing playoff games as a result of bullshit "interpretation" calls and freak plays that happen once every 100 years.

Technically the neutral zone is the length of a football. It's my opinion that that "zone" is never enforced.

But hey, I also lean toward the conspiracy theorist side of the balance sheet, and I think the NFL has very "interpretable" judgement-call rules in place for a reason. Couple that with tight control of what's reviewable, and you have crated a manipulation stew... Sprinkle a little favoritism onto the pot and you have an NFL that can steer outcomes to fit their desired current narrative/script.

This is a drama play you're watching, and I'm totally sold on the NFL wanting the officials to be able to steer games. If that means in need to be part of the tinfoil-of-the-month club, so be it...

Great Graphic...

Is Chris Jones the Colt 45 or the St. Ides? I'm pretty sure Marcus Peters is MD 20/20, but I'm not seeing that on the field.

Pretty amazing stat I heard pre-game:

In the 100 games before Andy arrived, the Chiefs were 31-69. In the 100 games Andy has coached since then, they are 69-31.

Andy has his faults, and his 4th down call tonight sucked donkey balls, but he is a quality coach, and I would bet that Mahomes is nowhere near the Mahomes that he is without Andy.

Dont give a fuck if he ends up in the HoF or not.

As it stands I have no confidence in any Andy Reid led team winning a SB.

You think Dan Marino looks back on his career and thinks at least I'm a HoFer?

Fuck the Dan Marino of head coaches.
