It's being reported at this time that Rice is expected to be suspended half the season or more.
If that's what's up, the good news is: he'll be good to go for December/January.
The bad news is, here's the WR depth chart:
Marquise Brown
Xavier Worthy
Justin Watson
Skyy Moore
Kadarious Toney
Justyn Ross
Nikko Remigio
Cornell Powell
Available WRs:
Hunter Renfrow
Allen Robinson Odell Beckham, Jr.
Tyler Boyd
Michael Thomas Marquez Valdes-Scantling
Russell Gage
Zay Jones DJ Chark
Jamal Agnew Mecole Hardman
Jakeem Grant
Randall Cobb
Marquise Goodwin
Chase Claypool
Deandre Carter
Sterling Shepard
Richie James
Jalen Guyton
Scotty Miller
Laquon Treadwell Byron Pringle and some others
We do need one more cheaper one. Renfros skillset should fit the bill since we already have two burners and a long route specialist in Justin Watson. [Reply]

And yes MVS at $3 million as a complimentary player is much better than MVS making $10+ million as WR1.
I don't think MVS serves any purpose anymore on this team when we already have 3 deep threats. I actually think they are going to use Worthy a lot more near the LOS than most though but still you have Hollywood and Watson who run alot of deep routes. [Reply]

DITTO!
Michael Thomas is NOT an option. He has spent more time in the tub than the field! [Reply]

I'm in for a cheap Zay Jones deal, but I think Boyd would want too much to come here.
And maybe we'll get creative with our TEs this season and find the answer to the big slot position you mentioned? I wouldn't be shocked if our base offense was a 12 formation, especially as it looks like we're keeping four TEs this season. Kelce is the obvious selection but keep an eye on Irv Smith and the rookie Wiley to flex in there, as well. I wouldn't be shocked to see Noah Gray in the backfield at H-Back, also. [Reply]
I am glad we did not sign OBJ. I think from last year he is clearly no better than a WR3. I think he knows that, despite his bravado, and that’s why he went to Miami. He can fit into the role he is now suited for.
Had he come here, depending on what happens with rice and the pace of development with worthy, he might have had to be our WR2. and if Hollywood turns out to be less than expected (I really don’t think that will happen) OBJ might have had to be our WR1 at least for a while.
If we get Hunter Renfrew, he actually could be WR2 if necessary as he showed that in the one year, he was very good with Vegas. [Reply]
I still think Zay Jones is the move. He's played in the Pederson offense. Can play outside and has been productive enough in the league to raise the floor of this room. [Reply]
I would really like another veteran, and supposedly they were in on OBJ, so they might still be looking. Either way, as was already mentioned, the room is markedly better already than last year even without Rice, so it's hard to complain.
Most likely they figure anyone who is left isn't going to contribute more than the guys currently on the roster. People here are going to slit their wrists when Andy gives Toney playing time next year. It's coming. :-) [Reply]

Don't be so sure about that. It sure looked like last year Patrick didn't want him near the field. [Reply]

I'm convinced they just offer OBJ the vet minimum every year and that's how "In" they are. [Reply]
