I feel like the list gets weaker every year. Maybe it's just because I no longer look starry-eyed at football players. I still don't understand who Deron Cherry and Albert Lewis made angry, because they deserve to be on this list over nearly every player on it.

Whatever. The next cut goes from these 26 to 15. So vote for the 15 that you'll begrudgingly allow even though they're not Deron Cherry and Albert Lewis.

Poll coming slowly, like that big dude who knocks on the players' hotel doors when they get in.

Tasker was the best special teams player in NFL history. He deserves a spot.

Yeah, he was certainly a Hall of Famer as a Chief, even though he may have been better as a Charger.

I still think that his blindside hit on Jeff George may be the hardest hit I've ever seen on a football field.

:-)

So your contention is that Otis Taylor

was better than Cliff Branch?

Really?

ETA: Don't get me wrong, Otis is a HOF WR. He should have been in ages ago.

Honestly none of these receivers should get in. Yeah, some were really good for several years, but none of them were what I'd consider top 10 WRs during a substantial part of time.

Really? You don't think Reggie Wayne or Steve Smith were ever top 10 WRs?

This is cap. Big cap. The cappiest of all caps.

If we're assuming Rice, Moss, TO, and Fitzgerald make up the top 4, who after this group is clearly better than these guys? Maybe Calvin Johnson, Antonio Brown and Marvin Harrison? You might be able to make a case for guys like Cris Carter and Michael Irvin.

I feel like you could make a legitimate argument for most of these guys to be somewhere between the top 8-20 best WRs of all-time.

You're missing a key differentiator here. Otis was a Chief. Branch was a Raider. Huge difference.

No more wide receivers should be inducted until Otis Taylor gets chosen.
Period.

Well fuck. I am old.

I had to go to urban dictionary to figure out if you agreed or disagree with his position.

Fortunately you appear to be correct.

I said "that's cap" to a guy I work with a few weeks back. He's 30 and he also had no clue wtf I was talking about so don't feel bad.

That's honestly not one I should use in this demographic, but it's one I started using as a joke and worked its way into my vocab. Sorry.

Based on the wisdom of Chiefsplanet, these should be the 15 finalists, in descending order of certainty.

Jared Allen, DE – 2004-07 Kansas City Chiefs, 2008-2013 Minnesota Vikings, 2014-15 Chicago Bears, 2015 Carolina Panthers
Steve Smith, WR – 2001-2013 Carolina Panthers, 2014-16 Baltimore Ravens
Reggie Wayne, WR – 2001-2014 Indianapolis Colts
Richard Seymour, DE-DT – 2001-08 New England Patriots, 2009-2012 Oakland Raiders
DeMarcus Ware, LB-DE – 2005-2013 Dallas Cowboys, 2014-16 Denver Broncos
Andre Johnson, WR – 2003-2014 Houston Texans, 2015 Indianapolis Colts, 2016, Tennessee Titans
Torry Holt, WR – 1999-2008 St. Louis Rams, 2009 Jacksonville Jaguars
Vince Wilfork, DT – 2004-2014 New England Patriots, 2015-16 Houston Texans
Hines Ward, WR – 1998-2011 Pittsburgh Steelers
Ronde Barber, CB-S – 1997-2012 Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Anquan Boldin, WR – 2003-09 Arizona Cardinals, 2010-12 Baltimore Ravens, 2013-15 San Francisco 49ers, 2016 Detroit Lions
Tony Boselli, T – 1995-2001 Jacksonville Jaguars, 2002 Houston Texans (injured reserve)
Darren Woodson, S – 1992-2003 Dallas Cowboys
Devin Hester, PR-KR-WR – 2006-2013 Chicago Bears, 2014-15 Atlanta Falcons, 2016 Baltimore Ravens
Zach Thomas, LB – 1996-2007 Miami Dolphins, 2008 Dallas Cowboys

And these guys are out, with the closest misses on top.

Patrick Willis, LB – 2007-2014 San Francisco 49ers
Sam Mills, LB – 1986-1994 New Orleans Saints, 1995-97 Carolina Panthers
Robert Mathis, DE-LB – 2003-2016 Indianapolis Colts
Eddie George, RB – 1996-2003 Houston Oilers/Tennessee Oilers-Titans, 2004 Dallas Cowboys
LeRoy Butler, S – 1990-2001 Green Bay Packers
Steve Tasker, ST-WR – 1985-86 Houston Oilers, 1986-1997 Buffalo Bills
Eric Allen, CB – 1988-1994 Philadelphia Eagles, 1995-97 New Orleans Saints, 1998-2001 Oakland Raiders
Ricky Watters, RB – 1992-94 San Francisco 49ers, 1995-97 Philadelphia Eagles, 1998-2001 Seattle Seahawks
Fred Taylor, RB – 1998-2008 Jacksonville Jaguars, 2009-2010 New England Patriots
Bryant Young, DT – 1994-2007 San Francisco 49ers
Willie Anderson, T – 1996-2007 Cincinnati Bengals, 2008 Baltimore Ravens

I'm sure we can all quibble a bit, but overall I think it's pretty solid.

I'm really surprised at the relatively low level of support for Hester, even though he's on our list. I thought that dude was magic.
