Nzoner's Game Room>The Motorcycle Discussion Thread
Dayze 11:41 AM 06-07-2013
I figure there are some motorcycle guys/gals on CP, so I thought we could have a place to talk all things Motorcycles.

Tire Mount and Balance Prices (as of 10/29/16)

Prices based on if you remove the wheels yourself and bring the wheels and new tires with you:

Cycle Gear - $35 per wheel if you buy tires from them. $58 per wheel if you buy tires elsewhere
Rawhide - $65 per wheel (assuming it would be the same at other HD dealers. they book it at 1/2 hr per wheel)
C R Cycle Tires (DeSoto) - $30 per wheel

Cheapest I've found my Michelin Commander II's. Seem like they have good prices on other brands too.
http://www.jakewilson.com - Free 3 day shipping on orders over $75

But might be a better idea to get a cheaper one right out of the gate to where if you lay it down or dump it in a parking lot etc, you won't be out a shitload of money. Get your feet wet for a few months etc. see if riding is even your thing.

Some folks think they'll want to ride or think they'll ride more than than they actually will etc. so it's always a balancing act of how much $ you want to spend compared to how much riding you'll do.
I've dropped a bike before, so I've got that covered already. :-)

I can ride almost year round in DFW and riding to work would shave 20 minutes off my commute because I could hit the shoulder for a particularly bad slowdown on my way to/from home.

I'm thinking about going down on Friday. If CP gets a rally down here, I'm in!

I'm leaving Thursday morning for Fayetteville. I'd wait for you Dayze, but I'm gonna be like a kid on christmas trying to get out of here. Lucked into a campsite at the Washington County Fairgrounds last week (60 bucks for 3 nights), so if you are looking for lodging, you might call and see if there is still room. Headed down solo, since all my friends flaked. Not gonna let their poor decisions to get married and have kids force me to miss this. Dayze, I'll PM you my number and maybe we can hook up for some riding while we're down there. Most of the Pig Trail is open, there is a small section down near I 40 that is closed due to the washout. 23 is only one road, and there are countless great rides down through there.

Negative. My ex fucked up our financial situation. I'm trying to fix that shit still. The bike I get is going to be completely determined by how much I get out of the wreck I was in.

I get that..been through the financial clusterfuck before

I was going to suggest you look at the Yamaha FJ-09..it's a cool little bike..it's got a triple cylinder motor in it so it makes tons of torque and revs high..they are only a couple years old so they are still up around $8000-$10000 in price..so if you don't know how much you will get yet I'm not sure how hard you are looking into bikes right now

This is the best single day charity ride I go on every year. I ride with a group of friends, and we have a blast every year. If you can keep your bike in a straight line, at slow speeds, and not get freaked out by the number of bikes, you should really do this one. Going for the 1000 dollar club next year so I can take my bike for a couple laps.
