More on NFL Live now....

#Packers GM Brian Gutekunst to ESPN: "As we've stated since the season ended, we are committed to Aaron in 2021 and beyond. Aaron has been a vital part of our success and we look forward to competing for another championship with him leading our team."

The Packers are aware of his feelings, concerned about them and have had team president Mark Murphy, general manager Brian Gutekunst and head coach Matt LaFleur each fly out on separate trips to meet with Rodgers at various points this offseason, sources told ESPN.

"As we've stated since the season ended, we are committed to Aaron in 2021 and beyond," Gutekunst told ESPN. "Aaron has been a vital part of our success and we look forward to competing for another championship with him leading our team."

Rodgers has not budged this offseason, but neither have the Packers, who have made it known they are not interested in trading Rodgers anywhere.

The San Francisco 49ers called the Packers on Wednesday night, a source told ESPN, and the Los Angeles Rams inquired about Rodgers in January before they traded for Matthew Stafford.

The Packers quickly dismissed the Rams' overtures, the source said.

The Packers have offered to extend Rodgers' contract, sources told ESPN.

Rodgers is unhappy for a variety of reasons, with some of it dating back to last year's draft when the Packers didn't inform him before trading up to draft a quarterback with their first-round pick. Some took this as a sign that his days in Green Bay could he numbered.

He also is at a different point in his personal life, having recently gotten engaged to actress Shailene Woodley. Rodgers also has hosted "Jeopardy!" and said it would be a dream to become the full-time host. He could play football and host Jeopardy! together.

Rodgers has made cryptic comments about his future in Green Bay, but he has told others that he does not want to return.

On draft night, the Packers' biggest issue isn't who they land, but whether they can keep the former NFL MVP.

Rodgers' contract contained a $6.8 million roster bonus due in March. It could have been converted into a signing bonus that would have freed up more than $4.5 million in salary-cap space for this season but instead it "vested as scheduled," a source told ESPN at the time. It's listed as an automatic conversion in Rodgers' contract but even that has to be signed off on by both parties. It's not known if the Packers tried to convert and Rodgers refused to sign off on it, or if they did not attempt a conversion.

I always said it took a certain level of denial to root for a perennial cheating franchise...but Jesus Christ.

You dont "dread" it so much...that once you realized Mahomes was legit...you made some racial slur towards him then vanished.

Now you only come back because of some fantasy of inheriting another HOF QB...acting all nonchalant about PMII being historically good.

You care...actually a lot. Came on here talking BS about drafting Lance just a few weeks ago...

If you didnt care...you wouldn't be here.

You have a decade+ of "not caring" ahead of you...and no QB in sight.

Yeah, trading for these elderly, 24 y/o vets will catch up sometime! They're not getting any younger!

:-)

"I'm not worried about 15 years of Mahomes because the Donks MIGHT get 3 years of Rodgers!"

AHAHAHAHAHAHA

The house that Dorsey built??? Did you really just type that?

Yeah, we've really been coming apart at the seams since John left. No young talent to speak of anywhere on the roster and trading a first rounder for a young Pro Bowl LT while also getting a second rounder in return is really going to kill us.

As for Mahomes' cap hit, they are pushing it off until the cap explodes because of the new TV money. You realize our owner is the Chairman of the Finance Committee, right? Pretty sure he knows what's coming. You're just yearning and grasping for things that aren't even issues for us. Meanwhile, you talk about getting Rodgers like you're only going to have to give up a 7th round pick. You'll be giving up more for him than Veach has given up for every player he's traded for combined.

As for Rodgers coming to Denver, the guy hasn't won jack shit in Green Bay while facing QBs the likes of Matt Stafford, Nick Foles, Kirk Cousins, and Mitch Trubisky. He has never once had an elite QB to face in his own division. Every time he goes head to head with another elite QB in an important game, he loses. He's a whiny bitch who folds like a cheap tent when the chips are down. He has zero passion left for the game anymore.

We will be kicking the hell out of you two times per season for the next 15 years. If you happen to get Rodgers, we'll beat you by slightly less the next 3 years before he retires and you're once again left without a QB for the next 10 years. The end.

Enjoy your day. :-)

That whole franchise is a sad, sad clownshow...thanks to Horseface's ineptitude....and karma.

I remember posting that after Mannning's arm fell off due to lack of HGH...they needed to trade Miller while his value was high. That they needed to start their rebuild in earnest...

Here we are 5 seasons later...5-11 team, no play-off births, 11 consecutive losses to the Chiefs, an old Miller...and no QB. Horseface pawning off the trash heap he created onto some other sucker...

He was always a fraud who lucked into a once-in-a-lifetime acquisition..the moment Manningstien vanished (the moment the NFL ratcheted up HGH testing)...so did any trace of a competitive team.

"In Elway we trust"...remember that?

I know I've mentioned it before...but Mannings decline was the biggest, most rapid, performance drop off in NFL history...He went from a top 3 QB to the 32nd ranked QB in a single off-season. Never happened before...

Not if he means that he's used to the annual ass kickings Mahomes & Co lay on his ass every year. Acceptance is a step in the right direction for him.

Even with Rodgers you aren’t better. Our coaching staff is worlds better, our GM is way better and you don’t have an owner.

The Chiefs set up several bonuses in Mahomes mega contract to give him gauranteed money and lower his cap hit.

That’s the good thing about having a good owner with cashflow

It's also the benefit of securing a generational talent for a decade...all these other teams are doing 4 years deals. Chiefs can manipulate it, long haul, as the cap increases...pretty brilliant.

He's also not taking into account the roster holes that will potentially be created by a Rodgers trade. He acts like Rodgers is going to be a free agent and not cost them multiple players and picks.

That’s because he thinks Hamler, Ojemudia, and Lock or Bridgewater will get it done!

Picks too, but he really thinks the Broncos can get Rodgers without giving up at least one quality young starter and a couple late 1st round picks.
