looks like robo umps calling balls and strikes is coming (at some point) to the mlb

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred on if MLB will use an automated strike zone in the near future:

"There is a good chance we are going to be using it in the big league level."

Oh dear God please! That's the only fair way to do it and to make sure pitchers don't get squeezed and hitters don't get screwed.

They did the same shit with Vinnie. Pasquatch had been tearing shit up since 2019 and didn't become ranked until the middle of this year.

"We're young, we're coming off a tough season, it may not be the right time to invest heavily in this team."

Well JJ now may not be the right time to invest in a new stadium for the fans either…

Baseball and football managers really shouldn't even make any in-game decisions that have to do with win probability.

That'll go over well. But it is a different approach than Dayton used to take where he said they were competing every year. Be interesting to see if they actually tear anything down to try and move in a more analytics focused direction.

Seems pretty obvious that they're not going to spend on a team that just finished 32 fucking games under .500...but the GM isn't supposed to say it so clearly out loud. You're supposed to tap dance around it...say things like "We're always looking to improve the team and we'll seek out opportunities we see as a good value."

Outside of getting a starting pitcher or two, I know really see the need for them to invest in free agency. Got a bunch of positional talent, need to see who is a player or not.

I agree with not spending money on free agent positional players, but like you said, they really need to invest in pitching. Coaching, trades, free agents and don't sit on hands and say, well this team is young. Get the Royals competitive!

Nate Eaton is #1 with a 98.1 mph average and has a max throw speed of 103.3 MPH.

That's insane.

With his speed on the basepaths, he could be a more productive Jarrod Dyson, given his hit tool is better than Dyson's.
