For all things Royals in 2022. #3 minor league system according to Baseball America. The Bobby Witt era should begin this year. Will Salvy still be the homerun king? How does the glut of infield players work out? Will the young pitchers take the next step?

In the past month, Brady Singer has faced the Dodgers, Yankees, Rays and had two meetings with the White Sox.

He's taken a no-hitter into the fifth inning twice, has a 1.67 ERA, 0.866 WHIP, 38 strikeouts in 32.1 innings. Those offenses hit .184 off the 26-year-old. #Royals

Damn it BWJ, Coleman has enough problems without committing an error for him.

Singer is looking legit. Getting the walks under control and staying ahead in counts has been huge for him.

I'm not sure I see that plus putaway pitch for him to be a true ace and his changeup still needs a little work, but he definitely looks like a guy who can be a #2 starter for you guys for a long time. And if that change develops into a plus pitch on the bank of that sinker, that could help him take that little step forward to be a genuine hammer.

Your Royals playoff update: with a win today against the arguable world series favorites, the Royals are on pace to capture the remaining 46 wins that may be required to capture a WC spot.

Vinnie Pasquantino went 3 for 4 today with a bomb, 2 runs, and 2 RBI. He is 7 for his last 18 with 3 bombs and a .450 OBP. His OBP is a robust .360 over his last 44 ABs. This guy is the real deal!

Well, historically speaking his July is an outlier. But I can see why one could have some optimism that with a solid pitching coach, maybe there is something mineable there. Then I counter that with....Dave Eiland. But Weaver will have another month and a half to prove me wrong.

The problem, near as I can see it, is that he has 2 secondary pitches that are pure feel pitches. Both the curve and change require more finesse than just a grip and rip slider or splitter. If you aren't healthy enough to find your form, you lose the feel for both of your secondaries. Then you're ineffective so even if you can stay healthy, you can't stay on the bump long enough to get your form back.

I think Weaver is a nice little pickup for you guys but the problem is that he's just burned so much service time w/ his injuries of the last few years. He's FA eligible after next season and he's not as young as anyone thinks anymore. He'll be 29 next year.

But if you can use this season to get him to recapture the feel of his secondaries, he can go out next season and give you a season w/ 160+ innings and an ERA in the mid 3s while you try to protect some of the younger pitchers you're still looking to develop.

Oh he may be more talented than Bannister was but the numbers are similar (in total). He sucks. If he gives us 160 plus innings with an era in the mid 3's, I'll eat a room full of hats, let alone my own.
