Nzoner's Game Room>The Fishing Thread
Easy 6 07:58 PM 02-19-2010
Searched around & only found the video fishing & BassMasters threads, i know their are plenty of outdoorsman here, so i figured it'd be cool to draw upon the Planets vast experience in all things fishing.

I only use spincast reels & fish mostly large/smallmouth bass & cats. My choice of reels is quite the source of derision from many people i know 'duffer gear', but i haul in my share of 6 pound bass & 10-20 pound cats on that gear no problem. With a little know-how you can use just about any technique you want to on 'duffer gear'.

Berkley Powerbaits are a big part of my trick bag, the difference between those & regular stuff is night & day. My best action last summer came on Mister Twister scented white curly tail grubs, on one day fishing from shore to a bridge pier, i caught smallies, bigmouths, perch & even 1 carp believe it or not... great day. But my bread & butter is a texas rigged Berkley worm, it'll wiggle through any kind of cover without getting hung up.

With cats i strictly bottom fish, no bobber & bait is just as basic... but its always in 2's to give'em a real treat... a shrimp/with a nightcrawler, liver/chunk of cheese etc. Cats are mostly for night sport to me, time to kick back a lil...

So thats me style, how do the rest of you guys get your fish on? What do you fish for, what do you use? IIRC Missouri's trout season just kicked off, anyone getting anything?

With some good help from my dad who had gloves on and was able to grab the braided line and "guide" him back to the correct side of the boat a couple more strong runs and he was done.

What a RUSH!

Very Nice

Thats awesome MM, ocean fishing, the Ultimate Adventure... how big was the eel? how exciting.

What did you use to catch it? what did you do with it?

Sure beats the one 4" baby bigmouth bass i caught today, but in its defense it WAS a pretty little example, being caught in a medium sized creek off of the illinois river it had a totally different look to it than most stocked bass around here, very shiny golden & silver with strong tiger stripes on its back.

Little guy didnt make it, literally swallowed the hook, i felt like total crap.

Atleast the swimming was good after i knew i had been beat.

Lucky bastard to be able to live that lifestyle. I'd love to be an ocean bum, fishing the salt on a regular basis out of a boat.

Bluegills any hybrid gills have been crazy on soft plastics for a couple weeks. Hooked two monster gills on 7 in plastic worms bass fishing. Crazy fun.

Need to find a way to hook a few grass carp.

Got back from my Canadian fishing trip yesterday. Spent 6 days fishing and only one day was the weather halfway decent. The rest of the days were either cold, windy or raining or a combination of all three.

We were primarily fishing for small mouth bass and I didn't catch my first one until the 3rd day. After that the fishing was pretty decent. I caught the 2nd largest of the group at 4 lbs, 2 oz (see photo in post 672). Despite the bad weather, we had a great time and wish I was still there.

Here's a few more photos.
