Because nose tackles dont' get paid, perhaps 3-4 defenses should stop worrying about it.
You can't what?

You JUST said that NT's get paid as much as 3-4 defensive ends.

PROVE IT or SHUT THE FUCK UP.

Tyson Jackson is what he is: He's a two down, 5 tech, 3-4 DE. He's not a pass rusher, he's not a dominant player. He's just a guy.

He'll NEVER justify his draft position.

EVER.
You may very well be right about him.

I dont have ignorant hope for him. I have realistic goals for him though, that may be a bit higher than what you have. I dont expect him to show up and start sacking qbs every other game and racking up all his tackles behind the line. I expect him to do his job and add a level of leadership to this defense in coming years. Thats about it.

The only part of my post that was speculation was the part you didnt clear, convenient.

"most people here" is a very telling statement. I could say the same about the Coalition but there were those of us that were very cautiously optimistic about him the moment he was drafted. He ran around blockers instead of taking them on and shedding. he didnt form tackle and went for the ESPN shots more than the tackles that help the defense get opposing offenses off the field.

He was drafted as a big play linebacker, which basically means he has to be protected and surrounded by talent to be fully taking advantage of his skill set. Instead, he was dropped off in KC where we have had no talent around him and he has been exposed for his weaknesses instead of building off his strengths. Its what we do/have done. Misuse talent. Its what were good at.

Im a big football nerd. I buy three or four magazines every year and spend a bunch of hours comparing reports on different players from different online sources and the mags to see similarities that allow me to form my opinions and dont chime in unless I have something to say and dont speak out of my ass as "most people here" do.

If that board didnt crash a little over a year ago, I would copy and paste some of my posts from that time span to show I wasnt part of that herd of sheep. But, please, do believe whatever you choose. You will see over time that I am right a lot more than I am wrong about players and the game.

Im sure some of our conversations over the years will be more interesting than the games on Sunday! Hopefully not!

time will tell buddy, it will be fun!

Happy Holidays!!!

Dude, you crack me up. All talk, no substance.

NT
Casey Hampton - 5 years, $22.75M
Jamal Williams - 5 years, $27.5M
Kelly Gregg - 4 years, $20.3M
Jason Ferguson, 5 years, $21.5M
Jay Ratliff - 5 years, $20.5M
Kris Jenkins - 5 years, $30.25M
Average: $4.92M/year

3-4 DE
Aaron Smith - 5 years, $24.5M
Louis Castillo - 5 years, $43.1M
Igor Olshansky - 4 years, $18M
Trevor Pryce - 5 years $25M
Brett Keisel - 5 years, $18.9M
Ty Warren - 5 years, $36M
Shaun Ellis - 6 years, $33M
Average: $5.67M
Feel free to find anything different. And that's NOT including Richard Seymour, which would bring that average way up. There are 4 DE paid higher than Kris Jenkins, the richest Nose Tackle on the market. And on the Steelers, the Chargers, the Ravens, and the Patriots, they have a 3-4 DE paid more handsomely than their Nose Tackle. They obviously think their 3-4 DE carries more dollar value than a Nose Tackle.

You are very, very wrong on this. Admit you were wrong. For once.

I've admitted when I'm wrong.

You have to take a look at the ages of those players, not just the contracts.

Casey Hampton? Kris Jenkins? Jay Ferguson?

Why are you comparing guys that have been in the league for a decade versus guys who are on their second contract?

Well, an apples to apples comparison would be Aaron Smith and Casey Hampton. Smith is a year older than Hampton, and they both play for the same team. The Steelers must think Smith is as valuable, or more, than Hampton.
