Until the new jail is built, it is unlikely that misdemeanor will get time in Jackson County unless one of the more aggressive defendants has priors and prosecutor insists. House arrest that would cost the defendant some money for the electronics is a possibility.

My brother got attacked by a guy outside a bar while helping a friend up and broke his jaw on the curb.

Dude served hard time, and had to pay restitution. My brother had to eat through a straw for several months and finish out a semester of college like that.

It sucked. Bad.
