For all things Royals in 2022. #3 minor league system according to Baseball America. The Bobby Witt era should begin this year. Will Salvy still be the homerun king? How does the glut of infield players work out? Will the young pitchers take the next step?

Someone getting fired for underperforming isn't something the Royals do man...unless it's a scapegoat.

Dayton and Matheny prayed together and decided that Matheny is doing a swell job with Bible study, so they'll probably extend him.

Orioles have a $45.5 million payroll, lowest in baseball, and have 44 wins.

BJs have a $171.6 million payroll and have 46 wins.

Rays have a $88.8 million payroll and have 47 wins.

Royals are at $96.5 million for 34 wins.

Unless you have someone in house ready candidate or its a major legal or clubhouse munity - mid-season firings are worthless. They are going fire Mathney and staff at end of the season.

I bet the Orioles collapse in the second half of the year.

EDIT: Don't know where I got 42-40 but they're 46-42.
I've never seen a worse strategic manager than Montoyo in all my years of watching baseball. He singlehandedly cost the Jays the playoffs last year (they missed it by a game). I honestly thought it would have happened in the offseason, but it also appears that he started losing the clubhouse this season as well. They couldn't wait any longer.

Yeah just doing some reading on him now and it seemed like everyone loved him as a person (management, the team and the media) but he just wasn't getting the job done and they expect to be in the playoffs this year with all that talent on the team.

Yeah, expectations very high and the team is struggling (relatively speaking), so somebody had to pay the price. Might as well be the guy who wasn't helping you with his in-game decision making.

This is a hilarious inning.

Dozier hits a dribbler, pitcher whiffs picking up the barehand.
Pasquantino hits a slow grounder to the SS, they whiff the tag to Rivera who was going back to 2B.
Olivares hits a routine groundball to the 2B who boots it into the outfield.
Isbel hits a dribbler to the pitcher who whiffs the 1B force out.

Consecutive plays. Hilarious.

K by Singer and a throw out by MJ for the inning ending DP.

Color me Bald was hilarious.

Singer has impressed me today.

Not even close to his best game by far but working out of innings without damage.

Quality start.
