Day 2 they have essentially stayed right on track and no reaches. Just the stink from Round 1 has carried over.

I like Kudrna.

I don't like him enough to justify our pick at #7. TK had a great point, this draft feels like it's being made with Cleveland's philosophy... the problem is, as of now, we have the Royals organizational staff.

Royals take Shane Panzini from New Jersey another high school pitcher.

They're going to spend more on Kudrna than his slot, I'd imagine. Or he'll go be an LSU Tiger.

The other guys look like slot signings to me.

I wasn't excited about the approach when it looked like Will Taylor might be the call for the "spend the #7 savings" option. Now that it looks like that money is being spent on a HS pitcher, I like it even less.

I like the third Wilson brother (the Alabama kid is the baby brother of former Alabama QB John Parker and former Alabama star SS Ross Wilson, who I think is the SEC freshman HR record holder). He's a switch hitter with some pop and plus speed who can play SS or 2B or any of the OF spots (CF). But that's really the only selection I've liked.

We have alot of guidos in the minor league system. Hopefully Johnny Giavotella can give them jobs at their family's Italian restaurant someday.

Eric Cerantola in round 5 from Mississippi State. Good news on him is that Tampa Bay drafted him out of high school. If Tampa Bay sees something in a pitcher that generally is a good sign.

Herein lies the problem.

That's quite a bit over slot for Kumar, so now they basically have to go cheap for the rest of their draft to make up for it.

It is 500k above slot for the Royals at #7. So they chose the Connecticut kid and being able to pick 1-2 over slot guys and also pay slot value for the rest of the top 10 over Rocker and having to sacrifice a few slots.

Not what I would have done or preferred to see. I would have bet on him regaining the form that made him the front-runner 1.1 pick, personally.

Or spent a similar amount on Khalil Watson.

Yep no doubt, it's a different game for the Royals because they had the slot money to do that without doing as much damage. I was just a little surprised the Mets didn't try to hardball him a little more but I guess they have new ownership now.

When you have someone with 1.1 upside fall to you later in the first round, it's a no brainer.

Cohen had to make a splash in New York.

The Royals are basically counting on the projectability of Kudrna over Rocker's success long term. I have no idea why the Royals have the confidence that their own system can develop Kudrna past what Rocker has already shown to be his ceiling. It'll be interesting to watch their careers play out.

Lacy walked 5 and hit 2 in his last start. So he’s progressing nicely.
