The book covers how the majority of the original NFL ownership came from mob/gambling backgrounds (including running bookies, horse-racing pari-mutual betting, etc. etc.).
Book was dry, but had a lot of history of the original owners' backgrounds prior to owning NFL franchises.

I can’t find any eveidence NFL owners were ever in the gambling business. Closest I could find here is Art Rooney won horse track money that helped him buy the Steelers. So I’d call this claim: bullshit
