They did the Jones one the right way, trying it at the beginning of the year and will still have time to course correct.

The Super Bowl, otoh...

If you'd like to know what Mahomes' trainer (someone he probably talks with every day) thinks about Remmers vs Niang, here's your evidence:

Does everyone around Mahomes just broadcast their every thought out into the world?

Does Stroupe train Remmers too?

Right??

Not that I'm aware of.

I think Stroupe has made subtle digs about the pocket and RT position over the course of the past few weeks, so I think he wants Niang to get a little more seasoning.

You mean Jones still has time to bulk back up and they can still sign a DE in the off season instead of spending their money on Reed?

:-)

That may be true, but Jones injury was rumored before week 1 and starting with Browns and Ravens was not ideal time for change.

I think a fully healthy Jones will get snaps at both spots, but probably less at DE than projected after training camp.

Starting right tackle battle. Who ya got?

3 days ago, Lucas Niang had a progress MRI.

“Everything was where it needs to be,” said
#Chiefs GM Brett Veach

Head trainer and VP Rick Burkholder said Niang is right on schedule. Could be ready by the end of training camp.

By the end of camp the position is locked in for Kinnard.

Niang is best suited to be our swing tackle, anyway.

He’ll be back just in time to shake Kinnard’s hand for winning that RT job.

Kinnard with little hesitation.

Niang will make a nice swing tackle, good to have Geron Christian, too. Plus you still have Wylie who was surprisingly good last year.

We're extremely deep on the o-line, I love it.

I think Kinnard is steal of the draft. I also like that he's been taking on Karlaftis in rookie mini camp, good for both of them.

I think we actually have more than one steals in the draft.

If it isn't Kinnard I bet it's Wiley. Niang didn't look that great even when he was healthy.

I've been saying Niang wont be 100% until mid season. This reinforces that.
