It was the prelude to $0.10 beer riot in Cleveland.

This with an 11 game losing streak!

Just took a sweep of the Pirates, 27-26.

IMHO, my prediction for the rest of this year. ( Looking ahead at the schedule left )

If the wheels do not fall off like in May ? 85 to 90 wins. Now I know many here will disagree, but I think we can get to 85. Now 90 may be stretching it, but damn if we hadn't of went into that damn funk for 11 games, we could have won this division. Playing the AL East will be tough plus we got to hold up against the White Sux and Indians. We have to have good outings against the A's & Astros.

Starting pitching is going to be key, we have to get solid outings from our starters.

Is it a coincidence that once Soler is removed from the lineup, Merrifield starts hitting?

Yes.

It looks like Merrifield's luck is starting to normalize.

As I pointed out last week, he had a similar batted ball profile as last year but with a much worse BABIP. That typically is going to indicate bad luck, which you'd expect to normalize over time.

Eventually, Soler will be back in the lineup. Do you have hope he'll be able to turn it around. It'd be great if he could turn it on before the trade deadline.

Oliveras needs to stay in RF. If Soler returns it is solely at DH.

That means Dozier plays 3B and Gutierrez hits the pine. (Oliveres>Gutierrez)

Omaha's 3rd baseman, Emmanuel Rivera, has been playing pretty well. He and Gutierrez could be fighting for playing time if Gutierrez is sent back down. Has Gutierrez shown enough since his call-up to be worth anything on the trade market?

He seems like a classic AAAA player. A guy who can fill a spot when injuries hit hit loses it when the regular comes back. FYI: only 2 players in history have that first name and both played for us

Nine Low-Hype Prospects Who Are Getting Close to the Majors

by Kevin Goldstein
June 2, 2021

Jackson Kowar, RHP, Kansas City Royals

Yet another impressive college arm from Kansas City’s 2018 draft class, Kowar ranked eighth on our Royals list entering the year, and while he’s only made five starts so far in 2021, he would surely move up if we re-ranked today. He’s yet to allow more than a run in any of his quintet of outings for Triple-A Omaha, and while the mid-90s fastball and one of the better changeups in the minors have been as advertised, what has changed is his breaking ball, which has gone from fringy-at-best to perfectly average in terms of spin and shape. It’s a much-needed wrinkle for Kowar to succeed as a starter, and he is beginning to line himself up for a big league look after the All-Star break, if not sooner.

Once Soler is back in the lineup, any 2 of Lopez, Gutierrez or Olivares will be heading to the Omaha. Or only one of them, if they're good with 8 in the pen.
