Clemson WR Justyn Ross is signing with the #Chiefs to their 90-man roster, per source.
Ross led the ACC in receiving as a freshman in 2018, ranked fifth nationally with 21.7 YPC and was second in receiving touchdowns. He also stands 6-3, 210 pounds. High quality addition for
Still no Justyn Ross on day two of minicamp. Chiefs aren’t required to report injuries during this time of year and they are opting to exercise that option right now. Andy Reid will be asked Thursday but no guarantee we will get an update. https://t.co/ZDX8rMD8mj

Bigger receivers win in a different way. It's not realistic at all to think a 6'3" 210 lb. WR is going to separate the same way the little speedsters do. It's a different skillset. Think about how Chase burned Ward on his record setting day. Did he have a lot of separation? No, mostly, Ward had great position, Chase just ripped the ball out of the air anyway.
That being said, a guy like Ross (if healthy, and again, this is a HUGE if) will win reps more like an AJ Green/Mike Williams type.
If you liked Drake London in the draft, then you should be thrilled that we picked up Ross, who IF HEALTHY is like a better London, in my opinion. If you liked Pickens, then you should be pleased that we got a similar player (and better route runner) as an UDFA.
It's a low-risk, high reward flier on a kid with loads of talent that will have to prove himself. Starting with: Is he healthy, and can he stay that way?
I wanted Pickens. I'd rather have Ross and his medical concern than Pickens and his attitude concern. [Reply]

Neither does Ross. He had one injury to his foot. That's it. The spine issue was not an injury - it was a medical condition, and those are different things.
I understand that it has the same affect, but this isn't the same as a guy who consistently got hurt playing the game. He had that spine condition before he ever picked up a football. [Reply]
