Brian Kelly was maybe able to get away with being a jackass at Notre Lame but that shit will not fly at LSU.
At Notre Lame he could recruit nationally and didn't necessarily have to forge close relationships with local high schools in a specific geographic area.
At LSU, it is expected that he'll be able to lock down the best recruits in the state of Louisiana and also be a regular contender for the top recruits in East Texas/Houston and Mississippi.
That will require building close relationships with high school coaches/programs in those areas... a potential struggle with his not so award winning personality/disposition. [Reply]

News flash, Brian. The country’s best recruits are being courted by other really outstanding coaches and programs in the country. You don’t think future players will look at your actions when making their choice?
Not one single recruit will alter their decision based on how Kelly left ND
Money, job security, easier admissions into university, better facilities, better recruiting pipeline. It might be easier to win a title at LSU but that doesnt mean Notre Dame cant win a title. [Reply]

I kind of see what Mecca is saying but I'd actually gravitate towards the middle ground...
Kelly COULD win a title at ND. However, it's likely he WILL win a title at LSU.
ND isn't dogshit but LSU is in THE power 5 conference. They've got a better shot, year in and year out. [Reply]

It's definitely holding them back.
The problem is that this is the same situation Penn State had and they've found it significantly more difficult to get to 10 wins in the Big 10 than it was as an independent. [Reply]
